The Joplin Toad The Toad is a regionally focused arts & humor platform created for & by the creatives of Joplin, Missouri. We exist to celebrate and encourage local artists.

We produce art challenges, satire, & other online content; also occasional magazines, podcasts, videos, tiny books, & who knows what next... Thanks to tremendous local support and a passionate team of volunteers, it is growing all the time. It’s all for the creative people of a little city in the center of the United States, Joplin.

And another WINNER: Congrats Carrie, for being the winner of our “surprise” themed art challenge!!! She will receive a $20 gift certificate to the local establishment of her choosing. 😊

A description of this mixed media piece, in the artists’ own words:

“Remnants from our lives before the Tornado. Tile, glass, porcelain, dishes and bottles, mirrors collected from around our area after The Joplin Tornado. From the destruction, we rebuild, joined by so many from across the country and our own community to find beauty beyond the  loss and destruction.”

A beautiful approach to hope and recovery in the midst of chaos; something most of us could use a reminder of right now?

BREAKING: YOUR AUNT THINKS LOCAL SOCIAL MEDIA AI SATIRE PAGE IS ACTUAL NEWS SOURCE

Relatives confirmed on Friday, that aunt Linda won’t visit the Branson timeshare because “she saw another news story” and Branson Missouri is reportedly, “just getting stranger by the day.”

She has thus far shared 3 of the stories as warnings to loved ones, and responded to an additional 7 stories with 😮 reactions, according to sources.

Aunt Linda also has been warning all her followers about the “people flying their ski dooze over Joplin grand falls” and “driving in circles in the middle of Rangeline of all gosh forsaken places” in an apparent reference to a 2nd satire page’s recent material.

She would not respond to request for proof of literally anything whatsoever.
