It’s wild the changes we can make in how we live throughout one lifetime. There was time in my past that this song.. Sunday Morning by painted a pretty accurate description of what my life looked like. For years, even decades… I lived life in the fast lane.. Big cities, hard drugs, hard friends. Narrowly escaping hard time. Now 20 years later I’m eating clean building our homestead.. living out the most wholesome of dreams.. Completely sober.. I mean I’m probably the most sober person I know.. 😂 Who saw that coming.. Definitely not the people closest to me..

I say all that to tell you this. Your past doesn’t own you.. You can change your trajectory at any time. You’re stronger than you could ever imagine.. You just need to tap into your passion.

We cooked this Sunday brunch outside by our fire pit. It’s 100% from our land. All the veggies were harvested from our garden this morning and the eggs came from our chickens. These days a simple life filled with good old fashioned blood sweat and tears is what completes me.

Life is short and regrets are eternal. Find what sets your soul on fire.. and do that.. The end.

On this day 9/11/2025.. I’m at a loss for words. I have a sinking pit in my stomach.. I feel sick and bewildered.. betrayed and disgusted by my fellow man.. I’m angry and utterly disappointed in society..

Our freedoms are what make this country the greatest nation on the planet. I’ll never cave to a lesser version of this truth. But more and more lately I believe I’m in love with the idea of what we once were.. what we could be. Not so much what we’ve become..

I’m a lover of god. I’m a lover of family. I’m a lover of freedom. I’m a lover of the idea of humans.. but the reality is people in general are lost.. and it breaks my heart.. 💔

On this day that rocked our great nation 24 years ago.. please go hold your loved ones tight. Be the bigger person. Make amends with your lover about that argument.. Go sit with your child and play make believe.. Go for a walk. Touch grass. Cherish the very breath you breathe.. life is so fu***ng short.. Please.. I beg you.. Don’t take this life for granted. We’re only here for a moment..

The pasture is complete. I installed gates all day yesterday. I’m still in shock right now.. but so happy for the life changes this new enclosed area will bring to our farm. 🥹

Something I’ve never really shared with all of you.. My best friend and ruler of my whole world, Ayla, our Turkish Kangal (livestock guardian dog). Has lived 3 years of her life on a 30ft cable because her protection instincts are too strong. If she hears a “monster” in the woods, my commands for her to recall go completely out the window.. This is normal for most LGD’s but Heather and I were completely new to this sort of thing.. So this pasture fence project was as much for Ayla as it was for all of our current goats and chickens as well as future farm animal projects.

It was Ayla who I thought about on the 95° days of fencing all summer. In my head this was all to give our dog a better life.. to give her freedom. Isn’t that what we’re all searching for?
