In the early morning hours of October 20, 2025, at about 4:53 AM, Deputy Chaney was conducting traffic enforcement on IH-10. While performing his duties, Deputy Chaney stopped a vehicle that required the assistance of his K9 partner "Echo". K9 Echo was deployed on the vehicle and provided a positive alert for the presence of illegal narcotics. A search of the vehicle resulted in 16.26 grams of "Crack Co***ne".

Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Seizure on IH-10

On Thursday, October 23, 2025, at approximately 1:13 p.m., Deputy Morrow conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 10 for an observed traffic violation. During the stop, Deputy Morrow deployed his K9 partner, “Ally,” to conduct an open-air sniff of the vehicle. K9 Ally provided a positive alert, indicating the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of approximately 3.5 grams of fentanyl and 3.5 grams of methamphetamine.

This morning, after India dropped the papers off at the post office, the mail truck driver inadvertently loaded them onto the truck headed back to Abilene.
