Im here at the grand reopening of the Norwood Park Historical Society, located in the historic Noble Seymour Crippen House. Built in 1833, this remarkable landmark is considered the oldest surviving house in Chicago. Beyond its rich history, the home has also earned a reputation for (the occasional) unexplained activity, with stories of ghostly encounters and strange experiences reported over the years. One of the strangest legends inside the Congress Hotel is the mysterious "Hand of Mystery." Hidden behind the balcony of the Gold Room is what appears to be a human hand protruding from the wall. According to the hotel legend, it belongs to a construction worker who was accidentally sealed inside during the hotel's construction more than a century ago, others have claimed it's just a glove. While no real evidence has ever confirmed the story, the strange looking hand remains visible and continues to fuel one of the hotel's most unsettling mysteries.
