Australian dirt racer Veronica McCann—aka “Red Hot Ronnie”—joins Melinda from Tennessee, where she’s wrapping up a multi-week stint racing dirt late models in the U.S. Veronica traces her journey from Perth Motorplex junior ranks to sprint cars, early-20s pavement ambitions in America (with key mentorship from Lynn St. James), a hard reset after back surgeries, and launching her own Red Hot Racing late model team in Australia. She unpacks differences between U.S. and Aussie racing (seat time, schedules, tires), the reality of sponsorship from overseas, why “bad nights are learning nights,” and how stepping up on shocks and setup made her a sharper driver. Off track, Veronica now helps manage Perth Motorplex Speedway events—including the groundbreaking High Limit International $100k-to-win show. Above all, she’s racing for love of the craft—and bringing those U.S. laps home when her Aussie season kicks off in October.

Sadie Parsons, a 10-year-old racer from Winter Haven, Florida, has already built an impressive motorsports résumé. Starting in go-karts at just five years old, Sadie now competes in flat karts, Bandoleros, Legend Cars, and Crown Vics — winning five championships in 2024 alone. With parents who both raced, Sadie grew up at the track and now shares the sport with her younger brother. Beyond her on-track success, she works on her own cars, values her racing friendships, and openly shares her faith, crediting God for her opportunities. Sadie’s ultimate goal? To climb the ladder all the way to NASCAR while inspiring other young girls to chase their racing dreams.

Race recap

It’s gonna be short and sweet: First practice was just a short shake down. Went out second practice and ran P1 the whole time. Qualified P2 with a 19.2. Race started and bounced back and forth from P2 and P3. Around lap 10 or 12 was involved in a wreck. Pulled into the pits for a quick check and went back out. Made it back up and finished P3.
