Truck Driver Rescued After Attempting Emergency DEF “Refill” Using Science

KAMIAH, ID - A local truck driver is recovering both physically and emotionally after what officials are calling “a catastrophic misunderstanding of modern diesel emissions systems.”

According to witnesses, the driver allegedly became confused during a routine stop to refill Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) and attempted to “self-fill” the tank using what one responder described as “equipment not listed anywhere in the owner’s manual.”

Emergency crews were dispatched after the driver reportedly realized it was too late, that DEF tanks are not designed for hands free operation, nor personal involvement of any kind.

Fire officials say extraction was difficult due to the narrow opening and the driver’s repeated insistence that “this should’ve worked, I saw it online.”

The driver was transported to a nearby hospital where doctors confirmed no permanent damage, though sources say his pride and search history may never recover.

In a brief statement, Idaho Conservation Services (formerly Game & Fish) reminded the public that:

“DEF tanks are for trucks only. Please stop experimenting.”

The trucking company has since issued new safety training materials titled:
“DEF: What It Is, Where It Goes, And Where You Absolutely Should Not.”

The driver has declined further comment but was last seen Googling the phrase “is DEF corrosive” and asking nurses if the smell ever comes out.
