People will judge the addict that decides to have a drink.
People will tell them you need to be completely straight.
Here’s the thing… recovery is different for all types of people.
People learn how to learn themselves to a T when in recovery.
They learn their triggers. They learn what not to do and what they can do.
Does it mean go out and party every day? No.. because once you start doing that then you’re going to find yourself back down that rabbit hole.
Some choose to stay completely away from it all and that’s awesome.
But just cause your recovery is what is working for you doesn’t mean it’s going to be like someone else’s.

Yes… I drink every 6 months and have absolutely ONE drink. And I do it while I’m treating myself. Not for a banger night but to relax.
Do I smoke w**d? Meh, I could care less for it but i do support those in recovery who do and don’t.

We know ourselves better than anyone else. So don’t let others judgement get you down. Especially those in recovery who still want to say what you’re doing isn’t the right way of recovery.
We all recover differently.

For the longest time I always asked why me? I played a victim role while creating more victims in active addiction. I blamed everyone for my problems besides myself. But at the end of the day I sat in those jail cells by myself, prison by myself, cop cars by myself. I put myself in all those situations.
Did trauma play a role in it? Of course it did. Did fly or flight mode play a role in it? Of course it did. At the end of the day, I had a lot of unhealed parts of me that I needed to deal with. I mean, when you go through so much trauma from 9 years old to 27 years old you tend to just shove it so far back that you just build up so much anger, confusion, sadness, bitterness, and anxiety.
The thing is, I get a lot of people who support my journey but I also get a lot of random hate saying all addicts deserve to die. Which is kind of sad because at one point we were just infants that were born and nobody expected or planned on us being addicts. We’re all human.
Most people will sit in their closet while judging people who blast their whole life and take accountability.
I’ve made some big mistakes, I’ve been a hoodlum, a non present mother, a thief, a liar, a ju**ie, homeless. But the thing is, we are ONE LIFE situation from being in those shoes. People ask why we turn to drugs or alcohol. The answer is because it makes us feel good for such a little bit of time. We start partying at a young age and then it becomes something we’re comfortable with that we enjoy until it takes everything from us. Destroys us. Destroys everyone around us.
But the beautiful thing is we can change. We can heal. The people we’ve hurt and that have watched us through active addiction can heal. We grow and then it becomes necessary to help those still stuck in addiction.

Sorry not sorry.
But if you go to a gym and don’t wipe after you use a machine you’re nasty.
& that’s why I wipe machines before and after I get off of a machine.
