TIPS ON HOW TO MAKE YOUR HOME SAFE WHEN YOU TRAVEL:

The NYT wrote an editorial with tried and true tips on home safety when out of town, but it made me laugh because there's a much better way! Me!

Here's a partial clip:
"There are a few time-tested and commonsensical habits that everyone should adopt when leaving home for more than a couple of days. The big-picture concept is to eliminate any clues a potential burglar would use when deciding which home to prey upon.

Beg, bribe, or coerce a trusted neighbor or gullible friend to make regular visits, and have them visit at random times, if possible. Ensure they have an extra set of house keys (or know the door code)." OR . . . BE DIGNIFIED AND NOT BOTHER YOUR NEIGHBOR AND "GULLIBLE" FRIEND. Let me take care of all of this. 🤷‍♀️

"If you’ve left a car behind, have this person move it periodically. If your driveway is empty, have a neighbor park a vehicle there." (AGAIN, IF YOU'VE HIRED ME, YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO THROUGH ALL THIS RIGMAROLE).

"Don’t let mail and newspapers pile up. Instead stop your mail, or get someone to pick it up." (LIKE . . . YOUR HIRED HOUSESITTER, ME!)

"And don’t leave a note on the door for deliveries. Instead, set up an account with delivery services like FedEx and UPS, as well as Amazon, and have deliveries rerouted to a pickup location." (ARE YOU GETTING THE PICTURE?)

"If your drapes or shades aren’t normally closed, keep them open while you’re away." (OR I'D BE DOING THIS AUTOMATICALLY, BATTERIES NOT INCLUDED)

"For stretches longer than a week, hire someone to mow the yard and put out and collect your garbage cans on schedule." (NOW FOR THIS, GET YOUR REGULAR LAWN PERSON, & I'll put out the garbage. 😌

NO MUSS, NO FUSS, AND WITH ALL THE TRUST.

Our Story

I started my career many years ago in the legal community. My father suggested I apply for a job at the local bar association (a professional association of lawyers), so I thought, why not? Got an interview, and got the job! While I never followed fully in my father’s footsteps to become an attorney, I did learn something from his career in the law: If you do what you love and give back along the way, you will not only find success, but happiness, too!

And eventually, this is how Let Go, Let Laura began. You don’t want to do it, can’t do it, or don’t have time to do it? Let Laura do it! And there’s nothing better to test one’s skills in getting it done than having children. My two terrific kids (now off to college and beyond) taught me even more ways to find the answer, create organization, and have fun in an often chaotic and busy world. A pillow a friend bought me sums it up: I’m not bossy, I just have better ideas. ;-) So let’s get started!
