🚢Trade Update

The US Meat Export Federation provided some of the latest updates from the US-China Board of Trade, created in May, including recommendations for non-sensitive products.

“We’re especially encouraged that the two sides are really looking to separate trade between non-sensitive goods under the recently established US-China Board of Trade,” said Dan Halstrom, president and chief executive officer of USMEF. “I think, in particular, US beef and pork would be included, as well as variety meats, on this list of products to be considered for more favorable treatment from a duty standpoint.”

📰ICE Enforcement in Kansas

Recent US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in southwest Kansas led to a major meatpacking plant adjusting its schedule on Sept. 23.

Livestock associations in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas put a statement regarding the operations.

"These ICE operations are having a massive chilling effect on the legal, documented, skilled workers that put beef on the table and keep the cattle supply chain moving. Additionally, these types of disruptions will lead to higher beef prices for consumers."
