Christopher Burnett: A critically acclaimed alto saxophonist, composer, and educator. Army bands before establishing himself in the Kansas City jazz scene. He is a Conn-Selmer Artist and an award-winning BMI composer. Terri Anderson Burnett: A flute and piccolo player who began her career in the Army Music Program. She is a lifelong educator with a teaching degree from Drury University and graduate work from the University of Missouri. She currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for their shared organizations. Military Background: The couple met while serving in an Army band based in Ansbach, Germany, in 1977 and married in 1979. BurnettMusic.BIZ

Kansas City Area Youth Jazz (Youth Jazz) provides a vital and unique “real-world learning” experience for the next generation of artists. Through our merit-based fellowship, high school and college music students receive scholarships to collaborate with exceptional peers and gain insights that refine their pre-career paths. Your generous support allows us to challenge, educate, and motivate these young musicians through deeply enriching musical experiences. The impact of this program is tangible each season: numerous Youth Jazz alumni now perform professionally as leaders and side musicians throughout the Kansas City jazz community. Ultimately, our program serves as a missing link in the music industry infrastructure.

Hello friends and followers of our musical journey. I have a few news and project updates to share.

• I’m writing the orchestrations for the next ORIGINALS QUARTET album. Live concerts. Our latest album is here 🔗 https://music.lnk.to/yvXhhg

• I’m also in the planning stages of an ORGAN TRIO project with longtime friend, Terry Bowness out of Austin, Texas. An album and concerts too.

• I’m finished sketching out the music for our WOODWINDS PROJECT album and will begin the orchestrations of those works this fall. Many artists.

• Looking forward to the 2027 curated performances by the CRANCERS QUARTET during Black History Month, Women’s History Month, and Jazz Appreciation Month supported by the American Federation of Musicians. Midday concert series.

• And the VETERANS DAY QUARTET gig (with special guests) where we play jazz music before the nationally famous Leavenworth Veterans Day parade in November each year is always fun.
