With a tip of his black bowler hat, Zach Krause, 26, is poised to carry on his 84-year-old grandfather’s barbecue legacy.

Krause’s grandfather is Ardie Davis, a folklorist, cookbook author, Barbecue News columnist and one of the founders of the Kansas City Barbeque Society, a nonprofit organization with 16,000 members worldwide that promotes competition barbecue and sponsors more than 400 sanctioned contests per year.

Browse the liquor store coolers and you’ll find plenty of creative takes on hard c***rs. Many breweries are branching out far beyond apple, creating fermented concoctions with fruits spanning from yuzu to pineapple, and infusing the beverage with spicy and herbal twists.

Boulevard Brewing Company’s latest limited-edition c***r, however, is rather traditional. The brewery is known to craft some daring flavor profiles, but for this collaboration with Louisburg C***r Mill, Boulevard doesn’t mess with perfection.

Formerly known as Greenwood Baptist Church, Greenwood Social Hall was built in 1927 by Waverly T. Thomas, one of the first Black architects to work in Kansas City.

An avid performer throughout KC and beyond, Arsenia is an ethereal harpist and singer (he also plays an array of other stringed instruments and the piano). Nearly three years ago, the musician moved into Greenwood, taking over the space from artist Peregrine Honig, who lived there for almost eight years and helped transform the former church into an arts space. As Greenwood’s director, Arsenia hosts performances, workshops, figure drawing sessions and more.

Fall was in full “swing” at Summit Fair this past Saturday as The Strawberry Swing made its Lee’s Summit debut.
