Joshua Rocha was formally sentenced to death for the 2022 shooting and killing North Kansas City Police Officer Daniel Vasquez.
The judge in the case agreed with the jury that Rocha's sentence should be death. A jury found Rocha guilty in October of first-degree murder in Clay County following two days of testimony.
Rocha's defense team was fighting to get him a life sentence.
