"Grimoire" is another new piece composed by Caleb Pickering and available through C. Alan Publications. Based around the book of the occult, this work was commissioned and performed by Andrew Veit.

"the five stages of grief" by Grant Fonda was recently commissioned by Michael Carp. "(Mike) wanted something that was largely lyrical, emotional, infused with cinematic tendencies, something that would appeal to a wide range of audiences rather than just the "studied" crowd." Another recently published piece is Robert Honstein's "An Economy of Means" from Living Room Music. Commissioned by Doug Perkins and alumni from Chosen Vale, this work is set in six movements lasting nearly 30 minutes. It uses the natural properties of the vibraphone, along with simple preparations consisting of tin foil and a manilla folder. Check out Neil Rao's live performance of this piece!

Save the Date!

The 6th World Vibes Congress will take place on January 6th & 7th in Neptune, New Jersey. Clinics and forums will be held both days at the Malletech headquarters with a mission to promote the vibraphone in areas of improvisation, composition, curriculum, and many other topics. The 2018 event will also include WVC Hall of Fame inductions of Milt Jackson & Joe Locke, as well as a vibes jam session in Asbury Park!
