Myth: Relationship goals aren’t necessary for a healthy relationship.

Truth: Love alone isn’t enough to sustain a long-lasting relationship. Healthy relationships require love + commitment + intentional action.

REALITY:
It’s not just about setting relationship goals, it’s about creating healthy habits in the areas where change is needed. Goals provide direction, but habits create sustainable change.

When couples focus on building daily and weekly habits (i.e. consistent check-ins, healthier communication patterns, and intentional repair after conflict), they move from good intentions to real transformation. Habits turn “we should work on this” into “this is how we show up for each other.”

💛 Strong marriages aren’t built on motivation alone, rather they’re built on consistent, healthy practices.

If you’re not sure where to start or how to turn relationship goals into practical, doable habits, book a consultation to join our relationship coaching program. We’ll help you identify where growth is needed and create habits that strengthen connection, communication, and commitment.

Sometimes you’re not “done”… you’re just stuck in a negative thought cycle. 🧠
And if you don’t interrupt it, it will convince you that everything is worse than it really is.

This is why mindset matters in marriage. What you rehearse in your head eventually shows up in how you love.

💬 Be honest—what thought do you need to stop replaying?

Marriage isn’t 50/50… it’s seasonal. There are seasons where one person is carrying more—physically, mentally, emotionally—and that doesn’t mean your marriage is failing. It means you’re in REAL LIFE.

The goal isn’t to keep score. The goal is to stay honest, stay connected, and keep showing up for each other.

💬 What season are y’all in right now—balanced or heavy?

Transitions work best when couples:
* Talk early
* Listen to understand
* Adjust expectations together
* Check in often

This week’s conversation starter:
💬 What expectation(s) do we need to adjust in this season and what support would help us do that better?

Maybe something feels hard right now or is no longer working. Being able to identify what needs to be tweaked can keep the relationship in alignment.

✨ And if this question hits home…Our NEW podcast episode drops Wednesday.

Myth: If my spouse loved me, they would automatically adjust to change.

Truth: Love doesn’t eliminate the need for communication.

Change requires conversation, clarity, and collaboration, and not assumptions.

Healthy couples don’t expect mind-reading. Instead, they talk, revisit expectations, and check in with each other often.

💬 What change has required the most communication in your marriage?

In this rewind episode, we’re taking you all the way back to one of our most honest conversations about love, expectations, commitment, and why marriage changes everything… even when you think it won’t.

We talk about:ďż˝
- Falling in love despite fearďż˝
- Why “marriage will complete me” is a dangerous myth
- What makes marriage fundamentally different from datingďż˝
- How God used unexpected moments to confirm our relationshipďż˝
- Why changing your spouse never worksďż˝
- And why agape love (not feelings) is what sustains long-term marriage

If you’re engaged, dating with purpose, or married and growing, this episode will bless you.

Want a simple way to reduce stress, stop miscommunication, and feel more connected as a couple? Try doing a marriage brain dump at least once a month.

Here’s how it works:
Grab a notebook, sit down together, and both of you write out everything on your mind —
💳 Bills
📅 Schedules
😩 Worries
🎄 Holiday plans
🎯 Goals
…all of it.

Just getting it out of your head will immediately lighten the mental load. Then review your lists together and decide:
✅ What matters most
❌ What can wait
🙏🏾 And pray about it all

You’ll be surprised how much closer you feel when you stop carrying everything alone. If you’ve never tried this before, now is the perfect time to start.

17 years in… and we’re still becoming the best version of “us.”

From the easy seasons to the stretching ones, every moment has shaped our marriage and the work we now do with other couples.

We’re grateful for the lessons, the laughter, the growth, and the grace that keeps carrying us forward.

Here’s to love that evolves, deepens, and stays rooted, no matter the season.

Happy 17th Anniversary to us!
