Food Review Fridays.

If you’re in a hurry… don’t come here.

Neo Soul Cafe doesn’t rush anything. No heat lamps, no shortcuts, no “get it out fast.” You order, they cook. Simple as that.

Yeah, you’re gonna wait.
Yeah, you’ll question it for a minute.

Then the food hits and you realize why.

Sticky chicken (last one they had), Cajun creamed corn with some kick, collard greens done right, red beans and rice with real depth, and fried chicken with a crust that actually crunches.

This isn’t fast food.
This is right food.

Most people don’t have the patience for places like this anymore… which is exactly why they’re worth finding.

Great night out for the Jesse Peyton Couples Therapy show at Mainland Music Hall.

Packed house, cold drinks, and a whole lot of people realizing their relationships might need a little more therapy than expected. Jesse absolutely crushed it.

Huge thanks to the team at Mainland Music Hall for taking great care of us all night. Fantastic venue and a great staff that keeps everything running smooth.

Nothing better than laughing with good friends and letting the night roll.

Already looking forward to the next one.

I’m going to say something that will probably offend a few people.

Everyone is suddenly a “CEO.”

Scroll social media for five minutes and you’ll see hundreds of them. Usually attached to a one-person operation, a dropshipping store, or someone who opened an LLC last week and ordered business cards.

Let’s reset the room for a second.

CEO stands for Chief Executive Officer.

It is not a personality trait.
It is not a marketing title.
It is not something you award yourself because you filed paperwork with the state.

A real CEO has very specific responsibilities:

• They are accountable for the entire organization’s performance
• They answer to a board, partners, or investors
• They carry legal and fiduciary responsibility for the company
• They set long-term strategy and allocate capital
• They build and manage executive leadership teams
• They make the final calls when millions of dollars and people’s livelihoods are on the line

That’s not a social media title. That’s weight.

For perspective, I own multiple companies generating substantial revenue. Real businesses with customers, contracts, payroll, and real risk.

And I still don’t call myself a CEO.

Now here’s the part most people don’t understand.

Most of the folks using that title are operating under an LLC.

At least here in Texas, an LLC legally consists of **Members or Managers**. That’s what the state recognizes. Not CEOs.

You can write whatever title you want in your email signature, but from a legal standpoint the structure is:

Member
Managing Member
Manager

That’s it.

The CEO title actually comes from corporate governance, not LLCs.

In a traditional corporation you have:

Shareholders
A Board of Directors
Then executive officers appointed by that board — CEO, CFO, COO, etc.

The CEO doesn’t appoint themselves. The board does.

And the CEO answers to that board.

That’s the difference.

Most entrepreneurs aren’t CEOs.

We’re founders.
We’re operators.
We’re sales.
We’re marketing.
We’re HR.
We’re the guy fixing the printer when it jams.

And there’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, building something from scratch is a hell of a lot harder than handing out fancy titles.

A CEO is something different.

That title shows up when the company becomes large enough that your job is no longer doing the work, your job is leading the people who do the work.

Until then, you’re probably just a business owner.

And that’s a title worth being proud of.

First half of Cancun has been a strange and beautiful mix of recovery and reset.

Came here for a dental procedure.
Stayed for the therapy that only turquoise water, warm sand, and zero responsibilities can provide.

Mornings have been antibiotics, ibuprofen, and ocean air.
Afternoons have been beach walks, chair naps, and Holly making sure I don’t do anything stupid.
Evenings have been sunsets that make you forget you ever had a to-do list.

Turns out when you slow down because you have to, you end up noticing things you usually sprint past.

The color of the water.
The sound of the waves.
The fact that pain makes you appreciate peace on a different level.

Also learned:
• Mango smoothies are a miracle drug
• Resort chairs are undefeated for recovery naps
• Cancun might be the most underrated place to heal your body and your head at the same time

This trip was supposed to be “fly in, get fixed, fly out.”

It’s turning into something way more memorable.

Part 2 coming soon… once this mouth is fully back online. 😅
