Pretty… complicated? The Common Myna has been widely introduced in areas like Hawaii and displaces the native avifauna. It’s been listed among the top 100 most destructive species. We saw these EVERYWHERE in Hawaii and while beautiful I kept thinking how many native species have been driven into the the mountains by these invasive species.

I wish I had more albatrosses in my life. I was super excited to see a bunch of these breeding Laysan Albatrosses. Fun fact, this is the longest living species that science has so far been able to prove with a banded female having lived over 70 years. She is named Wisdom.
