Are you holding yourself back? I know I am. This week I'm challenging myself to do what I am capable of.
So much of my small business I played it safe. Making things that I felt other people would want to buy for themselves or loved ones. I played so much to the crowd I forgot what I could really do and how I could truly express myself through this artform.
I know I can do better and make more interesting work. Sure this probably won't sell but maybe this eventually speaks to someone.

This piece is a little over halfway done. Sure the other stuff is on hold, but I don't mind..good things to come from this.

Procrastination. Do you ever get to the almost end of a project and slow down alot? I do. Today it was driven by anxiety.

Today was the day for it I guess. I was going fast the last two days and then I started to get anxious. I didn't want to mess up all that work. It's kinda like making a delicate steel leaf in a coal fire. You look away for a split second and it's melted..all that work gone.

Obviously I'm not gonna melt this silver piece on the anvil but I wasn't sure how all these joints and layers would bend on the anvil. I was worried I would knock it all out of place. Luckily it all worked out but it took me hours to finally get the courage to do it! Whew.

After a two month hiatus, I am finally back at my forge. These will be a couple of spatula handles 👩‍🍳 I went a little extra because I am realizing I might as well put all my extra-Ness into the things I make this year. I'd rather sacrifice the number of pieces to the artistic look of each one.
