‘Turbulent skies over Ely.’ {digitally watercolourised}

My original photograph was taken through the (now dried out) cow parsley on the verge of a narrow country lane, during the current spell of inclement weather.

Earlier today, while dipping in and out of my “Lagom” book (The Swedish Art of Balanced Living), and savouring my very delicious coffee { ☕️ 😊 } I felt the mindful urge to create this. And so I did. And I hope that a few of you might like it.

My good wishes to all, and have a great day,

‘Stormy skies and The Ship..’ [..of The Fens]

Taken from Quanea Drove, just to the east of Ely.

I’ve recently enjoyed a veritable plethora of clouds types and shapes, and wanted to incorporate a moody sky into a scene of the local farmland landscape. And of course the cathedral.

And indeed to keep the scene as minimalistic as possible.

I hope that you might like this photographic / artistic style. Even though it’s visually rather simple, it is created with genuine feeling.

Cheers all,

‘Looking through the bench.’

My “quirkiness” hath returned. I know that a few of you have missed it..

I’ve used the upper detail of this metal bench facing Oxburgh Hall, to mimic a pair of spectacles with which to view some semi-symmetry.

A damp day today, hence the water droplets. But I think that the clouds add a touch of atmosphere.

As ever, I wish you all well,

‘Sundown, in Little Downham.’

This evening my son and I took a short trip out to the surrounding countryside, to practice our photography skills together.

We had an excellent time, and shared some useful tips between one another. 😊

Here’s one of my shots which I hope you might like.
(He took a beautifully composed shot of the cathedral, and I’m sure he’ll share that with you separately, once he is old enough to).

My good wishes to all, as ever,

‘A Cromer sunrise.’ [July ‘24]

Reminiscing over some past shots taken this time last year, I happened upon this one which I had taken from Cromer beach (at 05:12, on 28/07/24).

It’s one which I hadn’t previously shared, and I thought that you may like to see it.

That is a morning I will always remember, and it’s a beautiful part of our coastline which I shall always enjoy returning to.

My best wishes to you,

‘Colours of our Union Flag.’

Here’s a shot I captured earlier today from The Almonry garden, looking through the leaves of a climbing plant, up at The Octagon’s wooden Lantern and The Union Flag flying high over The West Tower.

A multilayer edit resulting in dark brown and golden tones, with the flag remaining proudly red, white and blue.

A rather overcast day here, but I enjoyed a dash of beautiful brightness earlier this morning. ☺️

My good wishes to you,

‘An Ely skyline.’ [in B&W]

During an early stroll at Ben’s Yard (Stuntney), I captured a shot of Ely looking over the surrounding farmland.
It was a nice shot, but rather spoiled by a drab sky which I just could not work with to improve upon. I love a good sky, and this was not one of them.

However, after multiple stages of processing I have created this skyline scene in B&W, in which Ely Cathedral is prominent with St Mary’s church spire peeping over the trees to the left.

I very much hope that you might think it is okay.

All the best,

‘Ladybird date night.’

I spent a good while watching these two little lady[love]birds yesterday evening. 😊

Between finding delicious remnants of spilled apple juice upon my patio table, one kept going over to give the other a nice peck on the cheek. Or in my mind that’s what was happening, and I’m sticking to that. So cute!

All good wishes to you,

‘Agapanthus love.’

I love the sight of the agapanthus when they begin their annual display. Such a bold, magnificent statement of a flower head, supported by a long stem that seems to defy physics. Mother Nature truly is amazing.

Here’s a work in the (semi) fine art style, of a closeup shot I captured of some individual blooms within the main head, at Chez-Ely Monk.

I like the end result, very much. And I hope that you might, too.

Flowery wishes to you,

’The sails of the Fen.’ {digitally watercolourised, in B&W}

Something which I created after an early stroll around Wicken Fen today. Where the sails of the old mill (wind pump) were set against a backdrop of thick bulbous clouds, rather than blue skies. Making for a lovely temperature in which to take a mindful wander.

Let’s all be kind to one another. You never know just how much someone might need it.

(Snippet of my original B&W shot included also).

Take care all,

‘A dreamlike view.’

A glazed dreamlike creational style here, befitting my dream of last night. It was intensely hot when I took this photo, and I think the scene had been baked into my subconscious memory.

So perhaps you might take a look at this picture through squinted, sleepy eyes. 😊

All the best,

‘Golden wheat under hazy summer skies.’

A quintessentially English summertime scene, seen here in rural Fenland.

The simplicity and contrast of colour is a joy to the (my) eyes. And I’m sure to our hardworking farmers, too.

Sincere and best wishes to all,
