For the last 6 years I’ve prioritized everything else before getting top surgery. It was “oh, we as a family need to move to a better place first” then, “we need a better vehicle first” and now after 3 more financial goals, I can finally book my appointment!

THEN. Right when I chose my surgeon and was about to book my date with Dr. Hope Sherie, I was finally able to have insurance. And of course, her office didn’t accept insurance so I went on another search from scratch. I figured I had to travel a LONG way to get a surgeon I could trust since I live in small town Tennessee, so I went where I saw so many go: Dr. Scott Mosser in Los Angeles, California. After I had checked for insurance, did my consult, set up my surgery date, and was searching for places to stay in LA, I was informed my insurance was not in-network and there was a mistake. So. Once again. I started from scratch.

After doing LOADS of research, I realized there were a few surgeons with amazing results and reputations within 4 hours of me so instead of flying across the country, I reached out to the office that had results showing online of my chest size. I decided to give a consult a try with Dr. Eric Emerson in Gastonia, NC hoping this would be my final round and so far so good! While my consult went amazing, I was surprised when they first booked me in November. Then came that email that made me fly off the couch pacing in circles telling Kayla “GUESS WHAT” over and over.

Now coming June 6th, I’ll finally be free of this constant physical unease. It’s going to be quite the wild summer as I have even more planned to share with you so soon. Here’s to my younger teenage-runaway self who dreamed we would make it this far. 🫶🏻🏳️⚧️🚀
