250 years of Liberation.

Standing under the words of Thomas Jefferson you feel both the power and the tension. “Freedom.” “Equality.” “Rights.”

This was written in stone…but never finished in practice.

This country was built on vision and contradiction at the same time.🤷🏾‍♂️😳

The Truth is, liberation was declared… but not delivered to everyone.⛓️

And still… here we are.

Living proof that the story didn’t stop in 1776.
We are the continuation.
We are the correction.
We are the expansion of what “freedom” was always supposed to mean.⛓️‍💥✊🏾

250 years later…
the question isn’t what they wrote.

It’s what we choose to live.🙏🏽❤️✊🏾⛓️‍💥

Keep pushing. Keep building. Keep liberating.

250 years of liberation should mean more life, not more weapons.

As we reflect on the future of our country, one act of liberation is learning the truth about nuclear weapons, nuclear power, and the lasting harm radiation can bring to communities, land, and generations. Peace is not passive. It’s a choice we make together.

Let’s keep choosing life, education, and a safer future for our children.

One more act toward liberation.

In the Eastern Cape, I witnessed young Xhosa interns dancing with pure joy.

No stage. No spotlight. Just rhythm, pride, and each other.🥰🎼

This is liberation.

When young people move in their culture, sing in their language, and celebrate who they are without apology..that’s freedom.

It reminds me that liberation isn’t always loud protest. Sometimes it’s joy.
Sometimes it’s feet on the earth.
Sometimes it’s community in motion.

Ubuntu- I am because you are, I am because we are.

Their dance inspires us to protect culture, uplift youth, and choose joy as resistance.🥰🙏🏽

When someone passes, especially someone who shaped us, taught us, loved us, corrected us… they become part of the lineage.

Honoring those who passed is an act of liberation. We remember. We respect. We continue.
They are no longer just memories. They are ancestors now. We honor them by how we live.

An act of liberation doesn’t have to be loud.

Sometimes it’s this.🎼🎤

An intergenerational circle at the Rosendale Theatre.
Children. Elders. Parents. Drum and sticks in our hands.
Voices rising together singing “This Little Light of Mine.”

That’s liberation.
Sharing light across generations.
Honoring Dr. King not just with words, but with unity and love.🙏🏽🇺🇸🥰
