• Residents across Central Florida should prepare for another hot and humid day, with temperatures climbing into the mid-90s and heat index values exceeding 100°F.

• Meteorologists are also monitoring the development of scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms, which could bring heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, and localized gusty winds.

• While not everyone will experience severe weather, outdoor activities may be impacted as storms move through the region.

• Officials encourage residents and visitors to stay hydrated, limit prolonged exposure to the sun, and seek shelter immediately if thunderstorms approach.

☀️ Morning conditions are expected to remain mostly dry, making early hours the best time for outdoor plans.

* At 627 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Poinciana, or near West Lake Toho, moving north at 15 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include... Kissimmee, Intercession City, West Lake Toho, Celebration, and Poinciana.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is also occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Remember, lightning can strike beyond 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.

* At 1009 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Orlando, Altamonte Springs, Winter Springs, Winter Park, Casselberry, Maitland, Lake Mary, Longwood, Goldenrod, Azalea Park, Fern Park, Fairview Shores, Eatonville and Aloma.

- At 607 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is
ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area.

- Up to 2.5 inches of rain have fallen.

- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
