I had SUCH A FUN FIRST DAY BACK IN THE YAK🥹

With my surgery, I was restricted on activity for 6 weeks, so I wasn’t able to get out spring fishing as early as I’d like. I’m just about 7.5 weeks out and feeling better everyday! Definitely not normal yet, but we are getting there.

I have zero strength so unloading and loading the kayak was tough, I forgot a net and a paddle, and the wind was RIDICULOUS.

Needless to say, I can’t wait for the next outing!

In honor of the upcoming turkey season, I can’t help but reminisce over my first turkey 2 years ago.

was kind enough to show me the ropes and help get this one in the bag. An eventful few days of scouting, sitting, and stalking I won’t soon forget. (Literally couldn’t have done it without her).

I’m still recovering from my surgery, but in my true stubborn fashion picked up a late season tag - so we will see how I’m feeling for that 🤣 but until then, good luck to all the early season hunters!

I made the mistake (I cried a lot lol) of watching Eric Dane’s last words to start the day yesterday, but he had an incredible posthumous message to not only his daughters, but to anyone fighting every day with the idea of mortality closer to the forefront than the average person -

1. Live in the present: we never know when it’s our time, or when time will stop. So it’s incredibly important to feel the current moment; not worry so much about the past and concern yourself less with the future.

2. Fall in love: He states not just with someone, but with yourself and the things you do. Fall in love with your life. Fall in love with someone to share that life with.

3. Find your people: this one hit incredibly hard. He talks about his friends and family who had showed up for him during his toughest days - just to be there. And I want my people to know how incredibly grateful I am for just showing up for me.

4. Fight with every ounce of your being: this may be more niche for those of us facing mental or physical trials, but I think everyday everyone should fight for what they want out of life. For me, it’s fighting to get back to who I was, but stronger, more resilient. I hope for everyone to have the strength to be able to fight.

I hope everyone starts their week with a sense of meaning, fulfillment, and joy. Please know, I’m rooting for you. Thank you for being here 🫶🏼

From a frozen livescope pole, a heater without a working ignition, and a hook to the finger - we managed to have one heck of a day.

I matched my PB on length with this thickkkkk 14”. The notoriously named “big back”. We caught several in the 11-12 class and a few jumbo perch. It was a day I’ll always remember and will go down as one of my favorite adventures.

Grateful could experience it with me 🫶🏼
