Last night, Congress approved a bill that will likely eliminate federal funding for public media—including WUOT and stations nationwide.

Even though this outcome seemed increasingly likely, it still lands with real weight. However, this does not change the fact that public media is still for the public, nor does it change our mission to deliver trusted journalism, amplify the voices of our region, and create space for music, stories, and ideas that enrich our lives and connect our community.

That service is part of what makes public radio unique and essential. We're fortunate to be part of a university that not only supports our work but helps train tomorrow’s journalists.

We’re equally as fortunate, though, to be supported by our community of listeners.
While funding changes signal a new chapter for public media and WUOT, it’s also a catalyst for a renewed sense of purpose to connect deeper with our community, serve listeners in new ways, and reimagine what it means to be a community-powered station.

However you listen, however you give, or even if you haven’t yet, you’re part of what makes this station possible. Visit our website to become a sustaining member for WUOT today or check out our story highlights on Instagram to learn about all the ways you can contribute to our station.

Together, we’ll move forward with resilience, creativity, and purpose. https://www.wuot.org/
