Histrionic personality disorder (HPD) is a mental health condition marked by intense, unstable emotions and a distorted self-image. The word “histrionic” means “dramatic or theatrical.”

For people with histrionic personality disorder, their self-esteem depends on the approval of others and doesn’t come from a true feeling of self-worth. They have an overwhelming desire to be noticed and often behave dramatically or inappropriately to get attention.

People with histrionic personality disorder often don’t realize their behavior and way of thinking may be problematic.

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD):

PBD is a personality disorder characterized by a pervasive pattern of instability. More specifically, Borderline Personality Disorder is characterized by instability in relationships, self-image, emotions, and behavior (impulsivity).

What to know about people with BPD:

People with BPD tend to use the diagnosis as an excuse for their behavior. It is an explanation NOT an excuse...
Common self-harming behaviors: cutting, scratching, substance abuse, dangerous s*x, dangerous s*xual situations, starting verbal and physical altercations,

Uncommon self-harming behaviors: Pulling out their own hair (Trichotillomania)
Treatment Options:
Medication can assist with symptoms such as depression and anxiety but do nothing for the behavioral symptoms of the disorder.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) (Recognized as the best treatment for BPD):
The core principles of DBT:

The Four Steps of DBT: (Completion takes a minimum of six months to one year and often takes about two years.)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
A form of talk therapy that focuses on changing a person's internal dialog.

4. Impulsivity in at least two potentially self-damaging areas (e.g., spending, s*x, substance abuse, reckless driving, binge eating).
5. Recurrent suicidal behavior, gestures or threats, or self-mutilating behavior.
6. Affective instability due to a marked reactivity of mood (e.g., intense episodic dysphoria, irritability, or anxiety usually lasting a few hours and rarely more than a few days).
7. Chronic feelings of emptiness.
8. Inappropriate, intense anger or difficulty controlling anger (e.g., frequent displays of temper, constant anger, recurrent physical fights).
9. Transient, stress-related paranoid ideation or severe dissociative symptoms.
Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD)
A pervasive pattern of excessive emotionality and attention seeking, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by 5 (or more) of the following:
1. Is uncomfortable in situations in which he or she is not the center of attention
2. Interaction with others is often characterized by inappropriate s*xually seductive or provocative behavior
3. Displays rapidly shifting and shallow expression of emotions
4. Consistently uses physical appearance to draw attention to self
5. Has a style of speech that is excessively impressionistic and lacking in detail
6. Shows self-dramatization, theatricality, and exaggerated expression of emotion
7. Is suggestible (i.e. - easily influenced by others or circumstances)
8. Considers relationships to be more intimate than they actually are

What is human furniture?
Human furniture refers to a practice within the B**M community where a person acts as an object or piece of furniture for another individual's use or pleasure. This practice involves a consensual and negotiated power exchange dynamic where one person willingly takes on the role of being used as an object or piece of furniture by another person or group. The person might be positioned or manipulated to resemble furniture, such as becoming a footstool, table, chair, or any other household item. The submissive might be required to hold a specific pose or position for a certain period, providing physical support or serving as a surface for the dominant person's comfort or convenience.

Crafting a human furniture scene: Like all scenes, there are eight basic steps to follow to help mitigate risks and increase rewards. A few of the most important things to remember are to thoroughly communicate, go slow, and don’t expect yourself or someone else to be a table for hours on end at the start. Like kneeling, impact play, bo***ge, and most other types of play, a person needs to build stamina through practice.
