Kay’s Ice Cream was a beloved spot in Knoxville for generations. The chain began in the 1930s and quickly became a local staple. I always admired this sign whenever I passed by and took this photo in June 2016. The ice cream cone still remains, but the Kay’s neon signage has been gone for quite some time. 🍦

Years before the familiar TV Guide magazines, local radio had a similar listing for upcoming programming! Here's one from Knoxville, Tennessee, 1948.

Chances are, Smoky Mountain Radio and Archives is playing some of the same material found in this same issue.

Sharing some archival photos from the historic Buckhorn Inn in Gatlinburg, Tennessee 📸 The inn first opened in 1938 and has welcomed visitors to the Smokies for decades. It remains one of the oldest and most well known inns in the area.

This photo was taken in 2017 as Hillbilly Village was being torn down. It was located in Pigeon Forge, TN, and was one of the first, if not the first, souvenir shops in town. 📸
