So one county commissioner is asking the Union County sheriff to resign. Is this an attempt to WAG THE DOG to keep citizens sidetracked off issues he now faces or a genuine appeal? One has to wonder why these commissioners forced taxpayers to fund a jail under a sheriff their jail committee chair would eventually ask to resign. Union County Commission IS RESPONSIBLE for the WRONGFUL DEATH lawsuit as Constable Dennis was removed from the final draft. I obtained a copy of the county's liability policy and it says all county elected officials and employees are covered (Drum Roll Pleeeeze) EXCEPT - The Office of Constable. Jefferson County's commission figured out a way to add them at no additional cost. Our commission had no intent of saving valuable law enforcement--even if it was for one great constable! How do I know that? They REFUSED a workshop taught by the Tennessee Constable Association that would have taught them how to address all their concerns of liability, oversight and any rogue constables. We the People are the Oversight and systems are in place to address all these problems! And Commissioners Greg Dyer and Eddie Simpsom decided to throw their district under the bus by not supporting the office that kept their community safe and who worked and supported the sheriff deputies! Shame on them! Monday night, April 28th is your opportunity to show them whose boss! If you don't attend, you will submit to their power to bully you into submission! If you show up, you will teach them a very powerful lesson--that you are the boss and they serve you! 6 pm Protest / 7 pm meeting. Bring a 4 minute or less statement and a sign!
