Hey all, this is Pan.
If you'd like to help with getting regular hours of local Knoxville music on the radio on WOZO Radio 103.9, I could definitely use it.
Help would be:
- Choosing and selecting what to play, via a shared Google drive
- Answering emails and messages about new song submissions
- Posting on social media (obv I'm horrible about it)
- Flyering around Knoxville
- Spreading word to local musicians young and old (any artist, any genre, any year)
- Getting more local music mp3s into the mix
- Editing tracks to show the correct artist name and track title, to cut off long silences or intros into other songs at the end of tracks, and possibly to edit out profanity (see below)
- Recording intros, outros, and possibly basically hosting or co-hosting via recorded bits... even if it's only for your own band and tracks
- Recording promos for the rotation hours we grab, or for the regular weekly show if we go that route
- (MOST IMPORTANTLY) Screening every single track for any non-radio-friendly profanity
That last one is a sticking point for me. I've accumulated a collection of thousands of tracks (going back to the 80s and before), but screening every single one is proving to be difficult, and that's a necessity for airplay on the public airwaves on 103.9 FM.
Reminder, WOZO is a low-power FM community radio station completely funded by DJs and the occasional fundraiser. No commercials, no underwriters, no ads, no nothing. We are all doing this as volunteers out of pure love.
With help, we can set up regular weekly hours of random local music rotation and/or start airing a regular local music show again.
