This is a recent FB post by Alan Prince, house mix master at Capone's, located in Johnson City Tennessee. Alan sees several musical acts every week, from national acts down to the most novice, these comments aren't just directed to just the novice as I'm sure he's seen plenty of road acts that should know better too. When you know better, you do better.

Alan says, just an FYI. when you arrive at the venue you are playing take time to introduce yourself to the audio crew and never ever start plugging anything up to anything. don't start grabbing mic cables or moving things around on the stage that were already there until you have spoken to someone. it's just common courtesy. and never ever say "can i get more monitor". this means nothing to professionals. tell us what you would like to hear louder in your monitor mix and we will try to make that happen for you. vocalists please try and keep your mouth as close as possible to the microphone in most cases. if you are afraid of germs then get your own mic.

Heads up to an up coming event being held at the Capitol Theatre February 10th. Greene County Sheriff, Pat Hankins and his Department are holding a very important FREE seminar concerning churches becoming more proactive in sanctuary security. It's a day long event and will cover many areas on how to deal with making your church a safe place to be.

I personally attended this event last year and quickly realized this is a very important and much over looked topic in many churches. I strongly suggest area churches send one or more representatives to this event and get informed on the latest Technics on improving sanctuary safety.

The March 10th, KMB Sound Workshop this year being held in Kingsport, Tennessee is planning on covering these topics with suggestions on how to make your Sound Team a part of your Sanctuary Security Team. Safety First and often the Sound Team is the first to see a situation arise and is in a position to be proactive.

Please share this information to those you know who are involved with churches that are ready address these safety issues.

Looks like Nicole is working up another Sound Workshop. You folks that do audio work with churches, schools, etcetera might want to look into this up coming event. The in's and out's of the digital world aren't as confusing as one might think. Great way to learn more and get your questions answered.
