As we all know the chicken world doesn’t lack for drama and I try my best to stay out of it but I can’t sit this one out. This comment below was in response to a good friend of mine on our local chicken page who was wanting some hatching eggs. She recently became NPIP and she couldn’t get a response from this small hatchery. I even messaged and commented on posts and was ignored. Obviously this small hatchery is screening Facebook friend lists. She has every right to refuse service to anyone and doesn’t owe anyone a message back but her response doesn’t sit right with me which is why I’m talking about it. Why couldn’t there be a discussion? For example “I see you are a new and upcoming breeder I’m honored that you’d like some hatching eggs can you tell me what your plans are with the breed?” EVEN IF she said “I love that you’d like to add some of my lines into your program but I am not wanting to have a breeder so close in proximity to me with the same lines” Would it be disappointing? Absolutely, but I respect the hell out of someone that can be upfront and honest. I do not consider myself a breeder. So I’m curious do you announce yourself as a breeder with every chicken/egg purchase? Also for context my friend recently got a flock from a breeder getting out of the business and is wanting to add some new genetics to start working towards her goals with it. Pretty much what all breeders do am I right?! Overall I’m just disgusted with the lack of decency. All it takes is a conversation. There is room for everyone to win
Anywho, who do you recommend for wheaten marans for my friend Little Timber Roost?!😆 Go give her a follow and show her page some love!
