My forecast region includes NE Arkansas, West Kentucky, Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri.

This event has really started exploding across our region. A confirmed tornado just passed near the city of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
There are multiple reports of tornadoes ongoing, including multiple strongly worded warnings in the Jonesboro, Arkansas metropolitan area and a Tornado Emergency in parts of Arkansas and Missouri that included the city of Lake City.
Please heed all warnings. We are experiencing communication issues at my home office here in Western Kentucky. I will provide updates when I can.
The red boxes are the current tornado warnings across the region as of 7:13 PM CDT. The yellow boxes are severe thunderstorm warnings.

Original post by Meteorologist Noah Bergren says, and I quote

“I do not share these words without significant thought beforehand. I do NOT like how tonight is trending. Data is converging on there being some lone, large supercells blossoming rapidly ahead of the 'main line' of storms. These are extremely concerning to me. The parameters at play are stronger than what occurred on 12/10/2021 should any supercells actually form. That chance is rising. I circled the area of greatest supercell concern which is west TN, KY, and far SW Illinois. Between 5:30P CDT and 8:30P CDT is the greatest supercell concern. I can not lie this has me a but worried. Let's hope and pray they don't form but trends are not good. Any supercell in this environment will move RAPIDLY to the NE and have the ability to produce: strong to violent (EF3+) tornadoes, baseball size hail, and good be on the ground for long periods of time. Specifically that includes the KY Lakes area, Evansville, NW TN, Graves and Marshall County areas.

After that timeframe, if any supercells did form, they will get cannibalized and overtaken by a monster QLCS (line of storms) approaching from the west. That crosses the Mississippi River around 9PM. That line then which will extend from NW Ohio, through Indiana, SE Illinois, west KY, west TN, east Arkansas, and NW Mississippi could produce tornadoes, excessive straight line wind damage, and very large hail. This is an uncommon example to the rule I have told y'all many times before that "lines of storms generally don't produce big tornadoes." This line tonight can and probably will -- regardless of what the uncertain # of supercells did ahead of them.

I should clarify I still do NOT have as high confidence there WILL be destructive tornadoes as the hours leading up to 12/10/2021. The ceiling in this setup is higher if things really get going, but the uncertainties are a bit more as well with today. If you are looking for something to root for - for the setup to underperform (still would be very impactful...) -- root for the lack of forcing to limit intense tornadic updrafts... and no supercells to form. Both of which are things that have a LOW chance of happening, but at least A chance.

*Post made: 3:40PM EDT / 2:40PM CDT Wednesday*”

I agree with everything sit here. Please make sure that you have your severe weather plans in place, storms will be entering our region imminently. Be prepared, but not scared.
The chance of a tornado hitting you directly is low, but the risk for tornadoes to occur today is very high. It is always best to be prepared, have a game plan, and remain calm and levelheaded in a scenario like this. I know a lot of us in our region have PTSD from the tornado outbreak on 12/10/2021.
Remember that no two systems are alike, and we will do our best to give you the most up-to-date and current information across the region.

Also, all of us are now currently under a PDS Tornado Watch. This wording is used by the NWS when there is a likelihood of strong to violent, long tracked tornadoes in the area.

Remember to have multiple ways to receive severe weather alerts, and stay safe everyone.

The first image shows the SPC outlook today.
All of us are in the level 4/5 (MDT) or level 5/5 (HIGH) risk.

The second image shows the watch area. This encompasses all of our region.

The third image shows the timing of this event. Storms are already firing off to our south and west.

BREAKING :
Exceptionally rare HIGH (level 5/5) risk for severe weather has been issued for nearly all of our coverage area.
This is driven by the likelihood of strong to potentially violent, long-tracked tornadoes.

Hello everyone! After having multiple issues trying to recover this account, I am back, and in perfect time. As of right now, we are entering a wild weather pattern in our coverage area.

Let me give you a run-down of the risks.

Most of our coverage area is under a rare level 4/5 risk for severe storms, being driven by a high tornado and damaging wind risk.
This is not like last week’s risk. This time around, there is very ample wind shear and instability to provide an optimal atmosphere for severe storms to develop.
I will provide updates on timing later today as new model runs come in. Remember, no matter where you live in the area or what color risk you’re in, you need to have a severe weather, safety plan, access to some form of viable shelter, and emergency supplies in case of damaging storms.

Tomorrow through Sunday, we may experience historic or close to historic flooding and rainfall totals, especially in parts of Western Kentucky and Southern Illinois.
US National Weather Service Paducah Kentucky has issued the highest total rainfall forecast ever seen in this area, with 10-15” of rain being possible, especially across the central parts of the region. Areas that don’t normally flood may flood, area rivers may rise to or above flood stage, and damaging flooding is looking very possible, especially in towns along area rivers with poor drainage. Today is the day that you want to clear out your drains, and make sure there are no blocks that would cause additional water rise to already vulnerable property. Remember, turn around, don’t drown, and to not be scared, but be prepared.

Ask any questions you may have in the comments, and I highly recommend checking out these pages for local weather updates.

After a warm end to the week, our first “true” cold front of autumn will swing through the area Sunday night into Monday.
Confidence has increased for the first patchy frost of the season across much of the area, and parts of the Ozark Plateau, Southern Illinois and cold-favored areas in Western Kentucky may see temperatures in the lower to middle 30s, a light freeze is possible in isolated, open areas. A light jacket will be needed early next week, especially on Tuesday when highs may not break out of the 50s for most people. Keep in mind, our average high and low temperatures for October 15th are 72 and 47 respectively.

Record low temperatures across the area this morning! Look at this reading from the Graves County Mesonet in Mayfield! This daily minimum reading of 38.2°F SMASHES the previous record for the date of 48 degrees as well as being the earliest in the year it’s ever been this cold at the Mesonet! 🥶🥶 The previous record for earliest temperature below 39 degrees was set on September 14, 1964. We usually don’t see temperatures that low on average until October 6th. It’s also the first time since September 21, 1991 that it’s been this cold this early, when a temperature of 38.5 degrees was recorded.
