Dear LMSS Community,
In November, Minnesota SNAP benefits may be delayed. This may negatively impact families and students within our community. We want to ensure every LMSS student has access to food. Next week, October 28–31, we’re collecting donations for the LMSS Student Food Bank—please consider contributing shelf-stable or freezable breakfast and lunch items such as ramen, boxed or microwaveable mac & cheese (+butter!), canned fruit, applesauce pouches, peanut butter and jelly, canned soups, crackers, Spaghetti-Os, granola bars, frozen microwaveable meals, Uncrustables, and other kid-friendly snacks.
Our goal is to stock our cupboards and freezer with lunch options for our students in need to last the month of November.
Donations can be dropped off in the school lobby (main entrance) between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. through Friday, October 31. If you’d like your donation to go to the La Crescent Food Shelf instead, please label it “Food Shelf”—we’ll keep these items in a separate collection and transport them for you. *If you bring an item that needs to be in the freezer, please let us know right away!
Additionally, the La Crescent Youth Faith Collaborative and La Crescent-Hokah High School Interact Club are hosting their annual Trick or Treat for Food event on Halloween night. Middle and high school students will collect food donations throughout the community, and adult volunteers are welcome. See the flyer in the comments for details or to sign up.
Thank you for supporting our students and families!
