THIS PRIME RIB MIGHT HAVE RUINED STEAKHOUSES FOR US…

We went to Rare Steakhouse in Star, Idaho expecting a good meal.

We did NOT expect a 16 oz prime rib this good.

Perfect medium. Thick cut. Crazy tender. Seasoned perfectly.

But was it worth $60? 👀

Our final score might surprise you…

Rare Steakhouse — Star, Idaho

We may have a problem…

We went to Rare Steakhouse in Star, Idaho with every intention of trying something different... But then we saw the 16 oz prime rib on the menu... Yep... So much for trying something different.

The Score

Taste & Ex*****on: 10/10
Cost & Value: 7.5/10
Service: 8.5/10
Atmosphere: 8/10

OVERALL: 8.5/10

Let's talk about the prime rib! This thing was THICK. Not a skimpy slice of prime rib hiding under a pile of potatoes. We're talking a substantial chunk of beef.

Tender. Juicy. Seasoned perfectly.

We ordered ours medium, and it came out absolutely perfect. One of those steaks where you take a bite, look across the table at each other, and basically say, "Yep… this was the right choice."

For the sides, I went with the loaded baked potato, and they didn't mess around with it. Soft all the way through and loaded with butter, sour cream, cheese and bacon.

The other plate came with garlic mashed potatoes, which were another solid match for that prime rib.

We started with the clam chowder, which was smooth and packed with flavor, along with fresh Caesar salads.

The cook sent out some complimentary focaccia. It was good… but a little too herby for us. Free bread is still free bread, though.

And because apparently two giant 16oz prime ribs pieces wasn't enough we had to order dessert...

The chocolate cake was rich, a good-sized portion, and topped with fresh strawberries and chocolate drizzle.

But the lemon cake?

That one was ON POINT.

Lots of flavor and a great way to finish the meal.

Service was solid from start to finish. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and plates disappeared almost as soon as we were finished with them.

The atmosphere is laid-back and modern, fitting the steakhouse concept they're going for. Nothing overly stuffy or pretentious.

Now, at $60 for a 16 oz prime rib, this isn't exactly a bargain steak dinner. But here's the thing… You will leave Stuffed. We were both completely full by the end of it.

And while we saw some other steaks coming out of the kitchen that looked absolutely incredible, we're not sure we'll have the discipline to order something different next time.

Because here's the problem with finding a prime rib this good:

You know you should try something different…

…but that 16 oz prime rib is sitting there saying,

"You know you want me again."

If you're anywhere near Star, Idaho, Rare Steakhouse is worth the stop—especially if you can make it in for prime rib Friday or Saturday.

Our recommendation?

Come hungry.

And maybe don't tell yourself you're going to try something different.

Because if that prime rib is on the menu…

Just order it!
Hits the top 3 list easily.

$32 PRIME RIB?! 👀🥩

No, it’s not fine dining. No, it’s not fancy. And that’s exactly why we think you need to know about this place.

A small-town gem serving up some seriously good prime rib every Friday night—and the King Cut is over a POUND of meat! 🤯

But is it really worth the drive?

👉 Check out our full review and see why we gave it an 8.5/10!

The Palm Bar & Grill — Benton City, Washington

Sometimes the best food isn’t found in a fancy restaurant.

The Faceless Foodies Scores

Taste & Ex*****on: 10/10 — In our opinion, some of the best prime rib in the Tri-Cities.
Cost & Value: 10/10 — A $32 prime rib dinner is tough to beat. Especially when it taste this good!
Service: 7/10
Atmosphere: 7/10 — It's a bar. 😂

Overall: 8.5/10

The Palm Bar & Grill in Benton City isn’t fine dining. It doesn’t have an upscale atmosphere, white tablecloths, or a menu full of elaborate dishes.

And honestly? That’s not why you come here.

You come on Friday night for one thing:

Prime rib.

Starting at 5:30 PM every Friday, The Palm fires up what has become a small-town tradition. You can get a standard cut for just $32, or go for the “King Cut” at $42—a massive portion that weighs well over a pound.

And if you ask us, the prime rib is the reason to make the drive.

The first thing we noticed was just how many plates were coming out of the kitchen looking exactly the same: prime rib and a loaded baked potato. That tells you something. When nearly the entire dining room is ordering the same thing, there’s probably a reason.

The prime rib had that rich, beefy flavor you want, with a delicious smoky quality that makes every bite better. We got one end cut for that extra smoke flavor, and it did not disappoint.

Your dinner comes with two pieces of Texas toast, corn, and a loaded baked potato, making that $32 price tag especially hard to beat.

Now, the atmosphere?

This is definitely a bar, and it feels like one. 😂

Seating is tight, Friday nights fill up quickly, and the place has pool tables, dart boards, and a lively atmosphere. It’s kid-friendly until 9 PM, but don't expect a quiet, intimate dinner. You're here for a good meal in a casual, energetic small-town setting.

And that's exactly what makes The Palm worth checking out.

Is it fancy? No.
Is it fine dining? No.
Is the atmosphere upscale? Definitely not.

But is there a fantastic prime rib at a price that's getting harder and harder to find? Absolutely.

The Palm Bar & Grill is exactly the kind of small-town gem that's worth the drive. If you're anywhere near the Tri-Cities, put Friday night on your calendar and go find out what all those prime rib plates are about.

Because once you try it…

You might find yourself thinking about when you can come back for the next one.

If you love prime rib, Friday night at The Palm Bar & Grill needs to be on your list.

100% recommend.

The Cabyn — Baker City, Oregon

A quick disclaimer before we start: The Cabyn is a cocktail bar that serves food, not a traditional full-service restaurant. The menu and portions reflect that concept, so we judged it as a cocktail bar/kitchen rather than comparing it to a conventional steakhouse or full-service restaurant.

With that in mind, The Cabyn delivered a really good experience.

The space was super clean, with a very cool atmosphere and vibe. It's laid-back and casual enough to feel comfortable, but still has an upscale feel that makes it stand out.

Service was excellent from the moment we walked in. Once seated, the service continued to be fast and attentive, and our server was very knowledgeable about the menu.

And the food?

Flavor was definitely the star.

We started with the smoked beef rib, which had a fantastic smoke flavor and was a huge rib that filled the plate. The potato salad was delicious and paired well with it. We'd like to see a little more flexibility with the plate—perhaps a choice of sides—but the rib itself was substantial and flavorful.

And honestly, I'd love to have this smoke flavor on a prime rib. 😉 Maybe a Friday night special? Just sayin'.

The elk Dutch oven lasagna was served in a cast-iron dish with two slices of toasted garlic bread. The combination of sauce and cheese was excellent, with a bold, spicy sausage flavor that really brought the dish together.

The BBQ chicken leg came with both the drumstick and thigh. The chicken was juicy, with great BBQ flavor and just the right kick of spice in the sauce. It came with the same delicious potato salad as the rib.

The desserts did not disappoint!

The key lime tart was light, bright and packed with lime flavor. It had a graham cracker crust and bordered on sour—which, personally, we loved.

The mixed berry cobbler came out in a hot skillet with vanilla ice cream. Great flavor, warm fruit and that cold ice cream combination made this a great way to finish the meal.

Bottom Line

If you're looking for a traditional restaurant with large, full-sized entrée portions, this isn't necessarily that. But if you're looking for a cool atmosphere, excellent service and food that brings serious flavor, The Cabyn is absolutely worth checking out in Baker City.

Definitely recommend putting this one on your list!

0/10 for service… and before you blame the server, DON’T. 😂 The problem was much bigger than that.

So what happened at the Stubborn Mule in Joseph, Oregon?
