For those of us that appreciate free genealogy records online, we want to thank Reclaim The Records group for working diligently to get access to our public records. Check out their website for these free records and how they are able to access these records. Like them on Facebook & Twitter.

We’re Reclaim The Records, a new not-for-profit activist group of genealogists, historians, researchers, and open government advocates. We identify important genealogical records sets that ought to be in the public domain but which are being wrongly restricted by government archives, libraries, an...

Happy Birthday to my maternal 3rd great grandfather, Isaiah Doty! He would have been 191 years old today. He was born in 1827 in Ashley, Ohio. Lived most of his live in and around Berlin, Wisconsin.
Isaiah was son of Stephen W. Doughty, Jr & Nancy Gardiner of Lincoln, Ohio. At age of 14 years he left Ohio with his Uncle Thomas Doughty and other related families and settled in Winnebago Co., WI. After leaving Ohio, Isaiah spelled his name Doty as did his brothers and uncle's except for his Uncle Thomas Doughty. Thomas Doughty's descendants have been only ones to keep Doughty spelling to present time. Isaiah served in Civil War from WI. in Company B, 37 Infantry where he was a Drummer. His grandfather Stephen Doughty was a Drummer in the Revolutionary War in Maine. April 1847 Isaiah married Clarissa Stateler. Children were Josephus & Clarissa, In 1850 about two weeks after birth of daughter his wife died. In 1852 Isaiah married Elizabeth Stateler, sister of Clarissa and children born to them were Frank & Eliza. In 1855 about two weeks after birth of daughter, his wife died. In 1866 Isaiah married Ellen Fox and they were parents of Arthur A., Stephen W., Wesley & Amy. Isaiah became well known for his cheese making.

Looking for Finley family members. I am researching James R. & Phatama (Scott) Finley that lived in Pulaski County, Missouri. James was born 1806 in Tennessee and Phatama was born in Virginia. Trying to find out who James R. Finley's parents are. Anyone know this information? I would so appreciate chatting with you.
