Today the world lost an amazing person, a great friend, one hell of a brilliant musician, and an all around genuinely good person.

Today our world is a bit darker, as we mourn the loss of our bass player, our brother, and our friend, Jonathan Vincent Brankline.

Our deepest condolences go out to his family and all who knew and loved him.
We ask that you keep him and them in your thoughts, and remember the good moments, as we all know with him were always in abundance.

We understand that there will be questions, and those questions will be answered in due time. We just ask out of respect for his loved ones that you allow that time to answer those questions as they see fit.

We love you Brankline.
And we love all of you, and appreciate your support.

"So I was thrilled to announce my headlining of Bloodstock this year, and with an eye on doing my first 'by request' set that included my entire career, (including SYL and all the DTP albums), I know there were a lot of people that were really excited as well.

But then, as we all know, circumstances prevented that from happening, and that was disappointing as the show was meant to be a pivotal moment in my creative career. But every roadblock is an opportunity for something different so we have come up with a plan to bring you the show in a way I believe will be kind of revolutionary and damned exciting. We have been working tirelessly to bring you a ‘virtual’ concert of the by request set, with musicians playing together, yet all in different parts of the world.

However, I wanted to do something different, not the 'brady bunch' type split screen visuals filmed on smartphones, (they are cool, but also not really exciting in my opinion) instead, we have opted to make a full production, filming ourselves separately, playing our instruments live, on greenscreens, with 8 cameras each, (all at the same heights and distances for each of our remote shoots), and then combine these elements on a crazy virtual stage. Its ambitious, but I think the closest to a monster concert as can be achieved this summer =) Considering everyone is scattered throughout the land yet not wanting to ‘let the dream die’ we have stumbled upon something rather amazing I think.

The players are Samus on drums, Wes Hauch on guitar, and Liam Wilson on bass... they have been going crazy learning the material, and we are putting it all together on September 5th, for the most ambitious live stream I think Ive heard of thus far. We have been dealing with Stageit to avoid any hiccups, and it poised to be rather awesome.

I will be live with it, and you, at this show, answering questions and talking to you throughout, to make it a totally interactive experience that acts not only as a cool way to spend a Saturday, but also as a potentially new way to do concerts entirely. The players I have hired have worked their butts off learning the material, and its going to be one of the coolest things Ive done in recent memory.

So please consider coming to this, Stageit has allowed the show to be the full 85 minutes, so it will be the full Bloodstock set. I cant actually believe we’re managing to pull off something like this, and theres a lot involved with it, but its worth it to me. Its not just any ‘quarantine concert’ this one is a quantum leap of sound and visuals. I cant wait for you to see this, hopefully you’ll consider it."

Bug Gigabyte‘s Interview in Orkus Magazin

German Print magazine
2020 Summer edition

Rough Translation:

"... BEING TOO PAINFULLY SOBER."
-Bug Gigabyte

Bug Gigabyte is looking for emotions: “If the music doesn't make me feel something physically, I will continue to compose until it does. I don't care what form the track will take, I just know it makes me feel something, and that's what it's about for me. ”This intensity is also inherent in the current EP“ Split Damage ”.

Orkus: Was it difficult to find a title that suited both tracks?
Bug Gigabyte: It didn't take much after completion, the title just fit ... From the outside, it may look like any two pieces on an EP. Musically they come from the depths of my influences - trip hop. I composed both songs, in “Languish” you can also hear Cat Hall's lyrics, their singing carries their emotions. It was her "hurt", her pain. I took this and highlighted it with melody and rhythm. In Emotional Therapy, I processed the feelings and sadness of the anniversary of the death of my birth mother, who died of lung cancer. So I decided on “Split Damage”, we both lost someone and were injured.
O: Does publishing influence the “therapeutic” effect of writing? Have you ever hesitated to reveal something personal to an audience?
BG: There are billions of people, everyone has their own taste in music. If someone says something bad about the song I wrote about my dead mother, it can be very devastating, it is not good for my psyche. But something like this happens and people can be cruel without realizing it. The "therapy" does not happen when I publish it, but while I write down my feelings and let my creativity be my personal therapist. Just because it's public doesn't mean I'll ever play it live or even listen to it again. It just means I've left something behind, and it's time to turn to the next one that hurt me, or whatever metaphorical knife that bores and plagues my side. The only reason I would ever hesitate to publish is when I feel it is not worth it. I'm not afraid of anything else. You can't do that either, especially

today. If you are afraid of what someone is saying, you are in the wrong business. Find a new hobby, a creative expression free of judgment.
: The tracks differ significantly in length. Does this affect what a song can express?
BG: Yes! It's like a "tool" - to compare with a "puscifer" song. Sometimes a message has to be expanded, sometimes you have to get straight to the point. "Languish" would not have the same effect if it were seven minutes long, that would not take the song anywhere and let it go out before it ends ... "Emotional Therapy" had to be expanded and developed because it was what I experienced myself. I had to convey the complexity of things in the simplest possible way and I expected the song to be heard while intoxicated, because that was me all the time while I was writing it. It was too painful to be sober on this piece.
O: Do you prefer creating concise arrangements or more extensive atmospheres?
BG: I love immersing myself in an atmosphere, developing it over a longer season and taking the listeners on a journey - on my own journey, to a place they have never been to, a place that has depth and character. Character that is transformed into a musical entity that even influences the subconscious - something where the bigger picture is not realized up to almost half of the track and sometimes not even until the end. One of the real reasons I like EDM and Progressive House is that these genres are constantly evolving into something else. That's how I feel as an artist and a person. I want to develop into something else, I don't know what that other is, but that it's about the journey. I don't want to be a decal, but my own individual with a hint of what influences me. That is my definition of an artist.
