Spooky Season: Bentley Hotel. Built in 1908 by wealthy lumber baron Joseph Bentley, the historic hotel is said to be haunted by several lingering spirits. According to local legends and reported paranormal experiences, Bentley himself still roams the halls and frequents the third-floor private apartment where he lived and died. Guests and staff have also reported encounters with the Elevator Ghost, believed to be a young girl or woman connected to a tragic elevator shaft accident, as well as the apparition of a man who reportedly fell to his death over the grand staircase railing in 1985. Adding to the hotel’s mysterious reputation are reports of disembodied military voices echoing through the lounge areas, with some believing they resemble the voices of World War II generals George S. Patton and Dwight D. Eisenhower, who stayed at the hotel during the Louisiana Maneuvers. Have you been here? Did you have a paranormal experience?
