This little spacecraft has far exceeded all expectations. Despite it traveling at 38k MPH it still isn’t a “light day” away. Space is BIG!

🚀 Imagine driving non-stop for 48 years and still not making it down the street in cosmic terms… that’s Voyager 1’s reality.

Launched on September 5, 1977, this tiny spacecraft is now drifting about 22.3 light-hours from Earth, roughly 24 billion km (15 billion miles) away. While blazing at an insane 61,000 km/h (38,000 mph).

By November 15, 2026, it’ll finally hit a huge milestone: one full light-day away from Earth (25.9 billion km / 16 billion miles). That means even light the fastest thing in the universe, would take 24 hours to reach it.

And the wildest part? Voyager 1 was built with 1970s tech that has less computing power than your smartwatch… yet it’s still out there, carrying humanity’s “golden record” mixtape into interstellar space. 🌌

Not bad for something older than the first Star Wars movie.

The Adirondack Rail Trail is officially completed. It’s a great addition to the area… I can see the Rail Trail from my house (but not Russia🤣). Close enough to hear cyclists talking. Glad it’s getting so much use!
