Young entrepreneurs in the community have been selling their own homemade products. Whether selling in their own neighborhood, at the Acton Children's Business Fair in May, or the upcoming Children's Business Market on August 24 in Pasadena, entrepreneurship gives children experience with what it’s like to make products, draw in potential customers, and make smart business decisions.

Kids in the area have been starting small businesses and selling at children's business markets.

Jousting is the biggest show at the Maryland Renaissance Festival, or “Renn Fest,” each year, drawing between 4,000 and 5,000 people each joust. Renn Fest will begin on Saturday.

Lori Kemp started volunteering at the Anne Arundel County location of Partners In Care’s Upscale Resale Boutique about nine years ago. She’s usually busy straightening the store, putting away clothes from the dressing rooms and displaying merchandise. Her family's history with the nonprofit goes back much further.

Severna Park High School students traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, for SkillsUSA’s National Leadership and Skills Conference from June 25-26. The school’s Entrepreneurship team of Holly Braughton, Jackson DuPee, Evie Elder, Cody Gleason and Tiiu Nomm won the bronze medal out of 22 competing teams.

AACPS is in the middle of a redistricting process. This July, AACPS officials outlined Superintendent Mark Bedell’s two recommendations. A public workshop will be held by the Board of Education at 6:00pm on August 18.
