Michael Cloeren named official host of Reading Blues Fest
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Prolific producer Michael Cloeren has been named official host of the Reading Blues Fest October 6-8 as presented by Berks Arts Council.

As part of his host duties, Cloeren will be emceeing concerts during the festival, which features such artists Kenny Neal plus Samantha Fish, Alex P Suter Band, The Robert Cray Band, Blind Boy Paxton, the Slam Allen Blues Band, and Jonny Lang plus Dana Fuchs Duo.

“I’m proud to be involved with the Reading Blues Fest,” Cloeren said. “The world-class lineup, the venue locations and the seasoned staff are three reasons why music fans should be traveling far and wide to support this inaugural event.”

John Ernesto is executive director of the Reading Blues Fest as well as the Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest and the Berks Arts Council production staff and veteran volunteers have facilitated the launching of the blues festival.

“They have brought in crossover artists such as Robert Cray that Jazz Fest fans would support,” said Cloeren, who has emceed blues concerts at Berks Jazz Fest over the years.

“I view my role with Blues Fest as a curator/host, especially with the Teeny Tucker’s Women in The Blues Presentation,” Cloeren said. “It’s a history lesson for women vocalists from the 1920s to the present. There is a video plus Teeny and her guitarist will be performing and I will be asking questions.”

Women in the Blues has been a highly acclaimed educational experience presented by Michael Cloeren Productions.

Teeny Tucker’s Women in The Blues Presentation with Robert Hughes and hosted by Cloeren will take place at noon on Saturday, October 7, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Reading Amphitheater.

Tucker is a dynamic blues singer and songwriter as well as a lover of blues history. She was born into blues royalty as the daughter of Tommy “Hi-Heel Sneakers” Tucker.

Teeny, known for her soulful, bluesy and unique stylistic renderings, has appeared on the same bill with B.B. King, Koko Taylor, Etta James, Buddy Guy, the Holmes Brothers, Robert Cray, Keb’ Mo’, Deana Bogart, Kenny Neal, Bobby Rush and John Mayall.

Women's in The Blues Presentations create educational and performance platforms that actively engage audiences, recognizing the historical influences and facilitate immersion in the Women in The Blues genre.

Women in The Blues is a two-part program that features the very best international touring female artists in the world.

The first component will be an interactive educational conversation with Tucker. This format allows an up close and personal dialogue that examines the historical influences on today's music that was created from the real-life journey of the participating artist.

Culminating the two-part presentation will be a concert by Tucker and her guitarist Robert Hughes.

Cloeren is a major force in the festival world and the Reading Blues Fest is fortunate to have a man of his caliber on board.

Cloeren’s resume is robust.

Currently the venue manager for Penn’s Peak, a beautiful mountaintop entertainment venue located in Jim Thorpe, he was awarded the Blues Foundation’s KBA Award for promoter of the year in 1996 for keeping the blues alive.

He was the founder and producer of The Pennsylvania Blues Festival at various venues.

In addition, Cloeren has created and/or produced over 80 festivals since 1991.

Some of them have been the Pocono Gathering on the Mountain, the Pocono Bikers’ Music Festival, the Pocono Tribute Festival, the Vermont Blues Festival, the Spring Mountain Blues Festival, the Country Jamboree, the Philadelphia Folk Festival, the Blast Furnace Blues Festival, the Pocono Irish and Celtic Festival and the Jack Frost Mountain Arts and Crafts Festival.

He also has been a consultant for the FM Kirby Center Wilkes/Barre, the Lake Placid Blues Festival, the Lehigh River Blues Jam, the Blues Music Festival in Catasaugua, the Briggs Farm Blues Festival and the Honesdale Roots & Rhythm Festival.

RIP Gregg Allman

"Gregg was one of the greatest Southern Rock/R&B singers of all time, having a unique blend of Country, Soul and Rock. In fact, he virtually invented the genre. I had been lucky enough to sing with him on a couple of occasions, and aside from being an incredible musician on both guitar and keys, he was a great person, and I feel very blessed to have known and worked with him. Music has lost one of its greats, and he will be remembered for his work for a very long time." - Steve Winwood

Hello Blues Fans & Friends

The Pennsylvania Blues Festival will NOT be taking place at SPLIT ROCK Resort in 2017
.
Several quality meetings with another resort in The Poconos over the past few months pertaining to 2017 event have been held.
We have made the decision to set our sights for SEPTEMBER 2018 to present the festival the right way with the right artists with enough time to plan and promote the festival properly in the manner that The Artists, Fans & Media have experienced for the last 25 consecutive years since 1992.

As for Me, I am loving my full time year-round position (since January of 2016) as Venue Manager for Penns Peak, a World Class concert faclity located in Jim Thorpe Pennsylvania; and with the BIG Help of my sister, Patricia Gyza Cloeren and my niece & nephew seeing that our incredible 93 year old Mother continues to get the best care in a well established New Jersey long term care facility.

From the bottom of my heart, I THANK YOU for supporting my dream of bringing to The Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania over 400 International Artists that have brought tens of thousands of Music Fans from all over the USA, Canada and many other Countries !!!

It is our Intention to produce The Pennsylvania Blues Festival in 2018. - and if possible other projects as well.

Please continue to support Music Festivals and Venues that represent the Music Tastefully & Professionally !!!

I will see you by a Stage real Soon !

The Music IS The MAGIC !

Bobby Kyle and John Nemeth, with The Bobby Kyle Band, at last year's Pennsylvania Blues Festival.

We'll be there next week, Saturday, September 17 @ The Thirsty Moose Saloon.

Here's what John Nemeth had to say about last year's experience: "The musical surprise was seeing Bobby Kyle perform with his band. These guys played 70s and 80s blues perfectly probably because they were kids when they started playing it. Check 'em out" Thanks once again, John. Yes we were young musicians, once upon a time .... We still are!
