Looking back at this incredible aerial footage of Larry Kirkland’s Columbia River Watershed taken shortly after its opening in 2019. The redevelopment of Vancouver’s Waterfront Park is a design solution that unites the waterfront with the surrounding community for the first time in 100 years. Seen in the background, the Grant Street Pier has become the focal point of this project providing a unique place for the public to enjoy views of the Columbia River. Both projects celebrate the the importance of the river both to its natural environment and the people who have been sustained by it.

We’re excited to announce that the Vancouver Waterfront Park was recently awarded the 2020 Excellence on the Waterfront Award by the Waterfront Center. The Excellence on the Waterfront Awards Program started in 1987 with grants from the National Endowment for the Arts Design Arts Program and the National Marine Manufacturers Association, to recognize top-quality planning, design, and development work from around the world.

The redevelopment of Vancouver’s Waterfront Park is a design solution that unites the waterfront with the surrounding community for the first time in 100 years. The newly redeveloped waterfront includes two awe inspiring projects we managed for artist Larry Kirkland, The Grant Street Pier and the Columbia River Watershed interactive water feature. Today marks the one year anniversary of the opening of the Columbia River Watershed at Vancouver's newly redeveloped Waterfront Park. We're so honored to have managed this project for artist Larry Kirkland. This incredible video taken in 2019, courtesy of LionEye Aerials, gives a bird's-eye view of this interactive water feature that is both a place to play as well as learn and contemplate the Columbia River, it’s tributaries and the vast land area that makes up it's watershed. This is an important step in the public art process that allows the artist and client to visualize the work in its intended setting. Thanks to LionEye Aerials for capturing this incredible evening flyover of Larry Kirkland’s design for the Vancouver Waterfront Park. This project did not come together overnight, it’s been nearly 5 years in the making and is by far one of the largest projects we’ve worked on to date.
