🚨 This is a reminder to the NE portion of the City of Cape Coral and unincorporated Lee County residents who are experiencing a very serious water shortage!🚨

There are mandatory watering restrictions in effect. Irrigation from the Mid-Hawthorn Aquifer is currently restricted to one day per week.

Conditions are not improving. If the aquifer’s water level keeps dropping, more restrictions will be put into place and residents may no longer be able to use their lawn irrigation systems.

Restrictions are put in place to protect the aquifer and drinking water supply.

On Monday, January 27th, the District held its Annual Meeting of the Board of Commissioners. We welcomed our newly elected Commissioner Rebecca Thompson to her first annual meeting.

Chairperson Julie Hollingsworth opened the meeting and conducted the election of officers for 2025: Commissioner Hollingsworth passed the gavel to Commissioner Katy as the new Chaiperson. Commissioner Bonacolta is the Vice Chair. Commissioner Rebecca Thompson is the Secretary. And Commissioner Hollingsworth moved to the Treasurer position.

The Board of Commissioners presented Commissioner Hollingsworth with a plaque to commerate her accomplishments as Chairperson. The Board reflected on the accomplishments of all of the Board Members over the last year and goals met by the District staff.
