What’s Growin’ Y’all: Part 4
Mid-June in Zone 7b and the mountain is showing off. The canopy is dense, the shade gardens are incredibly lush, and everything is bursting from native blooms to mid-summer perennials.
Here is the latest digest of what’s currently taking center stage.
1. Todd amongst the rhododendrons, coleus, dahlias, and our small redwood tree
2. Astilbe softening the edge next to the canoe water garden
3. Pink Dianthus
4. Rob with the waterfall Japanese maple and that gorgeous caramel-colored heuchera below
5. Catawba Rhododendrons (a stunning native standout)
6. Coreopsis bringing the bright summer yellow
7. Asiatic Lily (finally blooming after nothing last year!)
8. Wally showing off just how massive an Empress Wu hosta bloom gets
9. Newly planted Eclipse Bigleaf Hydrangea
10. Orange daylily transplanted from Todd's family farm
11. Cinnamon fern tucked beautifully among the impatiens & vinca
12. Blue stonecrop sedum
13. Water garden on the porch featuring hostas, rex begonia, and fiber optic grass
14. Hydrangea macrophylla
15. Karl Rosenfield Peony putting on one last spectacular show
16. Columbines enjoying the filtered sun, waiting on the pollinators.
The mountain shifts so fast this time of year, so stick around to see what else pops up for our next installment.
