Extremely thankful to be able to put some meat in the freezer from this beautiful big ol doe

As I think about it, this is my first EVER deer out of the saddle and mobile set up. Also to pack it out on the SAME tree stand I was hunting out of is pretty freaken cool! Huge huge plus having my daughter & wife be excited when I got home

Glad to have my buddy there waiting for me back at the truck wondering why the heck it was taking me so long

Opening Weekend

My dad tagged his personal best buck to date—and my 80-year-old grandfather was right there to see it.

Sitting in the heated blind with my grandfather on opening morning for the first time since I was 12 was something special. Celebrating with my dad after he shot his first opening-morning buck in years, and the first buck out of their new camp, made it even better.

It wasn’t how I usually spend opening morning—I’m typically off doing my own thing, exploring new ground—but looking back, I wouldn’t change a single part of it.

(Not even driving 2.5 hours to help track a deer.)

There’s still time to put some meat in the freezer. 🦌🍀🤞🏼

With deer movement low and hunting pressure building, Ryan explains how focusing on thick cover, food sources, and real-time sign created opportunities when most hunters struggled.

He also talks through the mental grind of a slow rut, an ethical shot-recovery challenge, and the practical strategies that both rifle and archery hunters can use to find bucks in pressured big woods conditions.
