In a democracy, the voters decide. Today, the Virginia Supreme Court chose to silence them.

Just weeks ago, Virginians approved a temporary redistricting referendum to keep extremist lawmakers accountable. The NAACP proudly mobilized across the Commonwealth, contacting over 150,000 Black voters to help secure this victory.

By overturning this measure, the Court has rejected the clear will of the people. Howard County Council member Liz Walsh is calling out the Columbia Association for paying its president and CEO, Shawn MacInnes, a base salary of $415,000.

Walsh, a Democrat running for county executive, said Tuesday that the salary is “insane” and criticized the Columbia Association, a nonprofit that serves as the de facto government for Columbia’s 10 villages and 104,000 residents, for a lack of “good governance.”

A suspected outbreak has been reported aboard a cruise ship in the , leaving 3 people dead and several others sick.

Officials say the ship is currently being held off the coast of Cape Verde as authorities investigate the source, with early reports pointing to a rare rodent-borne virus as the possible cause.

At least one passenger is in critical condition, while others onboard are being monitored as concerns continue to grow.

Health experts say hantavirus is typically spread through exposure to rodent droppings or contaminated air, and while rare, it can be extremely serious. (📸: )
