Today's spotlight is on our lighting designer and gaffer George Winchell!

George (he/him) is a Lancaster, Pennsylvania based producer, director of photography, gaffer, key grip and lighting director with over forty years of experience in film, television, commercials, industrials, and live performance. A graduate of The Rhode Island School of Photography and the Storm King Action Filmmaking Seminar, he owns and operates WM Productions and has worked with clients throughout the country.

In addition to his work on set, George has worked with various dance and ballet companies as a photographer and videographer between New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Michigan, and Florida. Past awards include his work on The Whole Truth from the Toronto Film Festival, I Never Liked Him Either from the Focus Film Competition, and various local and regional Addy Awards for commercial production.

Today's spotlight is on our director and line producer, Carly Bodnar!

Carly L. Bodnar (she/they) is a Philadelphia-based, director, producer, teaching artist/coach, and performer. They received their B.A. in Theatre from Temple University with a Minor in Art History and is an alum of the 2018 Director’s Lab West and the 2018-2019 SDC Observership Pool. Carly is Co-Artistic Director and a founding member of ReVamp Collective; an intersectional feminist artist collective. In addition they are on the Board, Artistic Committee, and Membership Committee of Plays and Players and on the Artistic Advisory Committee of Shakespeare in Clark Park.

Select theatrical directing credits: Twelve Chairs (Juniper Productions), The Helen Project, Jimmy Gorski is Dead (ReVamp Collective), Blithe Spirit (Hedgerow Theatre Company), and Company, Arcadia (La Salle University) and Community Chorus Director for Shakespeare in Clark Parks’ production of Coriolanus.. Select associate/assistant directing credits: Arden Theatre Company, Lantern Theater Company, Shakespeare in Clark Park, and Hedgerow Theatre Company. Carly recently directed their first short film, The Tone You Used to Have, written by Paige Zubel; dealing with mental illness and identity.

Select teaching credits: Philadelphia Theatre Company, Theatre Horizon, Walnut Street Theatre, Lantern Theater Company, and Delaware Theatre Company.

Select speaking engagements: Middlesex County Vocational and Technical School through the McCarter Theatre Center, the PA Thespian Conference, University of the Arts, and leads workshops for the ESU National Shakespeare Competition.

We start filming this Thursday!

Today's spotlight is on our sound designer and mixer, Ashley Burkart.

Ashley Burkart (she/her) is a producer, recording/mix engineer, sound designer and location, sound recordist based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She holds a B.S. in Music Business, Entrepreneurship and Technology from The University of the Arts with a minor in Film & Video. In college, Ashley had a strong focus on developing her music production skills which led her to perform with several different ensembles, bands, and to DJ on her own. Ashley has found that sound design for music works in similar ways to that of film and after graduating, she joined a film collective; travelling and honing her skills as a sound artist. Ashley aims to keep growing and to increase the impact of audio in media.

Tattered & Worn

This video was my first collaboration with Nikolai & Sarika. The song by Jeff Raught which vocals so relevant to the situation we all face today, was the inspiration for this video. The choreography by Nikolai and Sarika brought the perfect emotion and movement to this piece. I filmed this in a few hours one evening at Atlantic Ballroom in Towson Md without a crew. Just the three of us creating was such a special feeling. I am very happy to have had the opportunity to work with these two amazing dancers. The chemistry and artistry these two share made this one of the most satisfying projects I've had the privilege to work on.
