“ The right thing to do” - President Judge Dennis Reinaker

Modern psychology suggests juveniles can’t be held to the same standard as adults when it comes to criminal behavior. Thus, the U.S. Supreme Court in 2012 said mandatory life sentences for juveniles could be a cruel and unusual punishment.
"I don’t think anybody left the courtroom happy with my decision. I understand that," said President Judge Dennis Reinaker. However, he said, "a second chance, in some cases, is the right thing to do."

In Pennsylvania, about 88,000 grandparents are raising 195,000 grandchildren. Those who are on the front lines trying to lower recidivism rates are the ones you only hear about through friends, family, and acquaintances. These volunteers, social workers, school teachers, and non non-profit community members make it their life's work to help those in a state of crises. For these people Not driven by monetary gain or recognition are incredible and an asset to our community. Understanding that difficult youth and family dynamics is an enormous undertaking with little to no-profit is why people who give more than money are worth so much to our community. Family advocates say state and local laws requiring reimbursement for incarceration only add to children’s struggles.
