We want to thank Destination Downtown Lancaster for their statement regarding Saturday Cinema and for their continued commitment to providing family-focused events for our community.
Over the past week, a significant amount of information, speculation, and commentary has circulated online regarding our business, our employees, and our participation in community events. While we understand that people may have different opinions and perspectives, much of what has been shared has been incomplete, misleading, or inaccurate.
As Destination Downtown Lancaster confirmed, the individual referenced in recent social media discussions was never scheduled to participate in Saturday Cinema and would not have been present at the event.
We also want to clarify that the individual referenced in recent social media discussions is no longer employed by L-City Coffee. Out of respect for privacy and because employment matters are private, we will not be providing additional comment regarding his employment.
We also want to acknowledge the impact this situation has had on the rest of our team. We respect every person's right to have an opinion and to peacefully express their views. However, our employees are individuals who deserve to feel safe and respected both while working and in their personal lives. In recent days, some interactions and communications in and out of the workplace directed toward members of our team have gone beyond a simple disagreement and have caused genuine concern for their well-being. We have documented these incidents and are taking appropriate steps to ensure the safety and privacy of our employees.
L-City Coffee operates in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws. We take our responsibilities as a business seriously and remain committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for our customers, employees, and the broader community. The safety and well-being of our customers has always been, and will continue to be, one of our highest priorities.
Like many employers, we do not publicly discuss the personal histories, backgrounds, or personnel matters of current or former employees. Employment decisions involve private information and legal considerations, and we believe those matters should be handled with dignity, fairness, and respect.
We are also aware that photographs and stories from past community events are being shared online. In some cases, these images and stories are being presented without the full context of when, where, or under what circumstances they occurred. We encourage members of the community to evaluate information carefully and rely on verified facts rather than assumptions, rumors, or incomplete information.
For many years, L-City Coffee has been proud to support local nonprofits, schools, fundraisers, community organizations, and events that bring people together. Our goal has always been to contribute positively to Lancaster and create meaningful experiences for our community.
After discussions with event organizers, we made the decision to withdraw our on-site activities from Saturday Cinema because we believe the focus should remain on the children and families attending the event. We do not want controversy or distraction to take away from an evening that is intended to bring the community together.
We respect every person's right to make their own decisions about where they spend their time and money, and we respect the right to peacefully express opinions. At the same time, we believe discussions about any person or business should be based on facts rather than misinformation.
We remain committed to serving our customers, supporting our community, and treating every person with dignity and respect. We are grateful for the many customers, neighbors, organizations, and community members who have reached out with encouragement and support during this difficult week.
Thank you for allowing L-City Coffee to be a part of Lancaster. We look forward to continuing to serve our community for years to come.
