Under the new standards, moving industry personnel must adhere to all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention COVID-19 health protection protocols while in the service member’s residence. That means moving personnel must wear face coverings, clean frequently touched surfaces and sanitize their hands often. They must also minimize the number of personnel at the member’s residence in order to meet social distancing requirements.

The Department of Defense, in conjunction with U.S. Transportation Command, has adopted a set of safety measures and protocols designed to protect military personnel and their families who are required to move household goods to new assignments during the coronavirus pandemic. Secretary of Defense M...

Countless soldiers deployed over the past decade and a half have heard the jarring yet familiar “Incoming! Incoming!” siren warning in advance of an attack, while behind the scenes, the system developed and executed an intercept engagement plan.

The C-RAM system is credited with saving hundreds of lives in theater, providing the precious seconds needed to take cover or lie down.

The Counter-Rocket Artillery and Mortar system of systems was deployed in 2005 to address a joint urgent operational need to defend our troops against rocket, artillery and mortar attacks in four primary pillars: sense, warn, intercept and respond. Countless soldiers deployed over the past decade an...

Yet, as I’m writing this article, our world faces a significant pandemic from COVID-19. Yes, it is disappointing to say the least. A virus with reasons we could only speculate on has disrupted our daily lives. We must continue to adapt and overcome during this new social norming phase.

Spring is one of the most beautiful times of the year in Arizona. The season surely would be a great time to get together with friends and family, plan a big outdoor event, or even have a normal shopping experience. Yet, as I’m writing this article, our world faces a significant pandemic from COVI...

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an increased urgency to transport patients internationally, and the C-17 provides a unique capability to support this mission.
Previously, there was a lack of real-world data, and computational models capable of characterizing the C-17’s cargo aircraft cabin ventilation.
The test team collected data and gathered information on how air flows within the aircraft in order to increase the capability, and capacity of the C-17 to transport infectious patients and passengers.

Members of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s C-17 Program Office located at Joint Base Charleston, S.C., collaborated with a team from the 28th Test and Evaluation Squadron, as well as the 437th Airlift Wing, to conduct several interior airflow tests on a C-17 aircraft at Joint Base Cha...

“I never thought I’d be famous just for being alive,” Pipkins said. “But I hope that I can make people realize how serious this virus is. I wish no one would get this disease. This is a terrible virus because once it gets a hold of you, it really tries to take you out.”

Ronald Pipkins, Nevada’s first patient to test positive for COVID-19, left the North Las Vegas VA medical center to the cheers of VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System staff on April 20. Nearly two months after testing positive with the virus, and three weeks since awakening from a coma, Pipkins is...

“NASA is more than scientists, engineers and explorers. We are neighbors and members of communities across the country,” said NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine. “In a time like this, it’s critical that we contribute the vast expertise of our workforce to do all we can to help our neighbors, our communities, and the nation.”

NASA has joined forces with a task force in Antelope Valley, in northern Los Angeles County, Calif,, to build medical devices to help patients with coronavirus (COVID-19).

“As our nation’s first Space Force lieutenants, these leaders will defend democracy and protect the ultimate high ground of space,” said Barrett. “As they depart the Academy today, they will join the ranks of air and space power pioneers. They will be instrumental in building a lean, agile and forward-looking Space Force defending our nation, our allies and our American interests in space.”

Eighty-six graduates from the United States Air Force Academy celebrated receiving their diplomas April 18, 2020, and moved directly into the U.S. Space Force, marking the first infusion of commissioned personnel into the new service since its creation last year.

In the glare of a public spotlight, Adm. Mike Gilday will decide whether Navy Capt. Brett Crozier stepped out of line when he went around his chain of command and sent an email pushing for action to stem the outbreak. As of April 17, 660 sailors on the aircraft carrier, now docked at Guam, had tested positive for the virus and seven were hospitalized. One sailor, who was from Arkansas, has died, and more than 4,000 of the ship’s 5,000 crew members have been moved onto the island for quarantine.

The U.S. Navy’s top admiral will soon decide the fate of the ship captain who was fired after pleading for commanders to move faster to safeguard his coronavirus-infected crew on the USS Theodore Roosevelt.

On April 2, 2020, Tinges and five of his fellow space operators reported to the Food Bank of Santa Barbara County in Santa Maria, Calif., and went to work sorting cabbages, pears and other produce. They packaged bags of food, loaded them onto trucks and vans and delivered them to lower-income families and the elderly in Santa Maria and surrounding communities.

When Staff Sgt. During the 12-month field assessment, the Air Force will be evaluating five systems. Field assessments began in January 2018 when the Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Gen. Stephen Wilson, asked the Air Force to experiment with directed energy systems as an effort to transition game changing capability to the warfighter.

The Air Force will be evaluating the Raytheon High Energy Laser weapon system, Raytheon High Power Microwave, and the AFRL Tactical High Power Operational Responder drone killer.

The Air Force Research Laboratory has set up the Air Force’s first high-energy laser weapon system overseas for a 12-month field assessment. The Air Force Strategic Development Planning & Experimentation Office located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, is leading the project.

“Ceremonies help us stay in touch with our tribe, and our family roots,” he said. “Each family has a drum dedicated to their ancestors.”

Ernie Wensaut, a former Army machine gunner for the 1st Infantry Division, was born in a traditional Potawatomi tribal family home, on their reservation in Wisconsin. Growing up, he remembers native ceremonies held for each passing season. The ceremonies often integrated beating drums with a lot of....

[H]e said the reason that today’s soldiers are treated so well is directly related to the disrespectful way the Vietnam veterans were treated upon returning home.

I heard a Special Forces soldier say recently that his greatest hero is the Vietnam veteran. In his words, he said the reason that today’s soldiers are treated so well is directly related to the disrespectful way the Vietnam veterans were treated upon returning home.

[T]he fighting actually stopped when an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11, 1918. For that reason, November 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.”

At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month one hundred years ago, the guns fell silent across Europe and what had been called the Great War, or the War to end all Wars was over.

More times than not it’s what can make us great, but it’s also why we can suffer some epic failures. Let’s face it, folks — comedian Tim Allen has made a boatload of money making us laugh at the way men are “wired,” sharing experiences and the love for extreme things and ideas that any sane man would know dang well should probably be better off left alone.

When it comes to us men, there is always a constant edge that is living with us just below the skin level. More times than not it’s what can make us great, but it’s also why we can suffer some epic failures.
