He loved his owner more than life itself... 🐕💔
They say a dog is a man's best friend... but Rex was much more than that. He was a savior. 🐕💔
In 1975, deep in the wild Alaskan wilderness of Yakutat, an 85-pound black Siberian Husky-Labrador mix named Rex did the unthinkable. When a massive, half-ton mother grizzly bear charged at his owner, Alex Brogle, Alex had no time to reach for his weapon.
But Rex didn't hesitate. Forgetting his own deep-seated fear of bears, Rex launched his entire body directly at the giant bear's throat, putting himself between certain death and the master he loved.
Rex paid his life-debt in full that day. He saved his master's life, but lost his own. 😭
To this day, a simple wooden marker stands on the banks of Humpy Creek, reminding the world of the dog who forgot to fear.
