In 2013, a California couple was walking their dog on their property when they noticed a rusty can sticking out of the dirt.

They dug it up and eventually uncovered eight cans filled with 1,427 gold coins from the 1800s.

It is now known as the Saddle Ridge Hoard, valued at over $10 million.

This is a 2,000-year-old Roman gold ring, found in the tomb of a noblewoman named Aebutia Quarta near Rome.

But it’s not just a beautiful piece of jewelry.

If you look closely through that clear rock crystal, there is a tiny, incredibly detailed carving of a young man.

It’s believed to be her son, Titus, who passed away when he was very young.

Imagine the grief of a mother, carrying the image of her child with her everywhere she went, preserved beautifully under a crystal so she could look at his face whenever she missed him.

She took this ring to her grave, keeping him close to her even in death.
