Choosing what feels like me changed more than my outfits. ✨

I used to second-guess myself every time I got dressed.

What looked smallest.
What hid enough.
What felt safest.

Now there’s a lot less mental noise.

I get dressed faster.
I second-guess myself less.
I feel more like myself in photos.
And I spend a lot less time trying to hide parts of my body.

Turns out, getting dressed for myself has helped me trust myself more. 🤍

Same day, different decisions.

Some days it would be really easy for me to stay stuck and low-energy.

Stay on my phone.
Stay checked out.
Wait until I feel motivated enough to start.

But I’m learning that the shift usually starts much smaller than I think.

Sometimes I just need to get up. Move my body. Do one thing that matters. Give myself a little momentum.

Not because it magically fixes the whole day, but because it helps me come back to it.

Same day. Different decisions.

And sometimes, that’s enough to change the direction of it. ✨

For a long time, I thought getting dressed was supposed to be about making my body look different.

What hides this?
What makes that look smaller?
Is this flattering on me?

I got really good at dressing around my body instead of dressing for myself.

Now I’m trying to ask a different question:

Not, “Does this make me look smaller?”
But, “Do I feel like myself in this?”

And honestly, that has completely changed the way I get dressed. ✨

I’m 38 and I’m no longer afraid to admit that:

1. I’m on a GLP-1, and I’m still navigating what that means for me and my relationship with my body. It’s one part of learning to care for myself differently, but I’m realizing the bigger work is not putting my life on hold until I feel fully confident.

2. I still smile for photos knowing there’s a part of me that will want to pick myself apart when I look at them later.

3. I still go on beautiful trips and experience really special moments while sometimes letting way too much of my brain stay stuck on how I look instead of letting myself fully be there.

4. I still tell myself “later” in a hundred small ways. I’ll wear that later. I’ll post that later. I’ll enjoy this more later. When I feel better. When I look different. When I finally become the version of me I think will be easier to love.

5. I’m learning that confidence isn’t going to show up first. A lot of it comes after. After the photo. After the trip. After the walk. After choosing to believe my life is happening now, not just someday.

I’m not trying to be perfect. I’m trying to be present.

If you’re navigating this too, follow along. We can figure out how to stop waiting for “later” together. ✨
